Something else:
- Backlight connected to the PSU
- Main board connected to the PSU
- Ribbon between main board and t-con disconnected
No backlight, TV stayes ON, not rebooting, sound working fine.

I think that the mainboard is faulty

can you put the ribbon back on to the tcon and remove the ones going too the lcd panel instead that way should be able to tell if a tcon fault or panel pcb/lcd panel

I'm still curious why the PSU left for a few hours has got 13 Volt and the backligt is not working.
After connecting and disconnecting the main board, no more 13 Volt (12.6 instead) but backlight is ON.

I had a problem similar to this and had to replace the power supply.
It's a long shot but I would be interested in the result.

I could bring up the set when I powered PS_ON from 5V using a 1K resistor but not from the mainboard even though the mainboard provided the correct voltage.

Lift the PS_ON wire from the power supply connector. With the mainboard connected jump a 1K resistor from 5V to PS_ON and see if it boots up normally.
