Samsung LNT3242HX/XAC very sluggish to respond via remote

I've got a little head scratcher, a 32" Samsung LNT3242HX/XAC LCD TV. It still turns on fine, but here it comes:

I turn the TV on and let's say change a channel or turn up / down the volume via the remote, the TV won't respond or is very sluggish to respond until it ran like for 4 minutes or so. After that, everything is back to normal.

The LED on the TV does blink when I press a button on the remote, so the TV is receiving. The remote has fresh batteries, and I did try a different remote on it and same thing.

The TV responds fine on the keypad during it's spell. Once the TV is warm, the remote works fine, so this is only happening when the TV is cold.

What get's me is why would it turn on fine via the remote first place?

The TV has the latest firmware and I did a factory reset.

    Anybody has seen this before?

on the same mode there are key of sensitivity i think the default 17 or some things like that

Yep. Ran the factory mode reset.

It has nothing to do with the key sensitivity, as everything works fine after the TV is on for a few minutes and it will not do that again until it is in STBY for a 3-4 hours.

Weird... for sure. I was thinking maybe there is a memory problem or a bad cap hiding somewhere. Maybe I'll try heating the main up with the back of the TV removed.

I would think somewhere in the ir sensor. Even though it blinks maybe voltages off. Heat/cool ir sensor circuit.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Did you look at the IR output signal with scope?

Nope, haven't gotten that idea yet, because the stupid thing does turn on via the remote first try. It is just that anything else I press on the remote afterwards does take a half of a century until 3 or 4 minutes later. After that has passed, it's business as usual. You think the IR receiver is bad?
The LED does blink when I press something on the remote, so it receives, but maybe it receives everything garbled? I guess I have to verify the IR output when it has a spell vs when it is working. I did rule out the remote.

either way, isn't much good. Not with kids around and they need to sleep and I can't turn the volume down...

Speaking of that, I have a better idea. The IR sensor in that model is inside the big power button in the middle together with a LED. I'll better take that apart. Wouldn't be something dumb like that?

maybe turn it down before switching off so its ready for next time ... yes i know its annoying when things dont work properly .. i have got used the spare tv now so might give up with mine or fit a cooling fan . i know that wont fix yours . freeze spray might find your problem ..

That's the problem. I have two different sources. One wants the audio way up and then the other is too loud. So it depends on what we wanna watch.

You could have a noisy power supply, a bad cap that after a couple min. starts to do its filtering job, this could also be from a bad cap. on the main board, bad filtering cap on a regulator allowing a bunch of noise getting onto the ir supply voltage line, that would be by couple guesses, dig out the scope.

I have to get these Nortel CICS's I am working on off my bench, then I can put that TV on it and measure around.

So. My TV has the remote sensor inside the big power button in the middle. Yep... some corrosion was evident. Unplugged the IR assembly cleaned that crap off and so far so good!
