LG 32 LN5100 no picture, sound okay, led okay

    Hi,
I'm currently trying to fix this tv, I was watching a local news when suddenly it fades to black, sound was okay and there is still back light on it. Changing channel and volume works. So open up the tv and check if there are bulge caps, nothing. Check loose connection and everything is okay. Suspecting it is a T-con issue, check voltage and getting a 12v on other side of the fuse but 0 on the other, so tried to replace it by using a glass fuse with same amp for testing, 1.5 and fuse was blown, remove panel connector to the tcon, fuse blown, tried to read the current that is passing from that fuse, it was reading 4-5amp, tried to use a 5amp fuse but led would turn off as soon as i turn on the tv, also the i marked the parts that are hot to touch. ordered a new tcon from ebay and would be arriving on Dec. Is there any other thing i need to check on this t-con board? check all the caps, resistor using my digital tester and found no short components.

can you remove the ribbon cable from the tcon that goes to the lcd panel and try again that way it may eliminate a short on the lcd panel or pcb boards.

yes, did that already, the only cable that was connected on my 2nd test is the lvds cable and fuse still blown.

One of the regulators is shorting. Check the semi-conductor components labeled 'U---'.
Sometimes it may be easier to just buy a new/used T-CON replacement board.

The Ic is probably short, had the same with some Sharp Tcons. What is the PN on the Ic ? To confirm this you could unsolder the inductor, bridge over the pads and apply 12v to the Tcon on the other end of the fuse with no Lvds or panel ribbons in but make sure its grounded see what smokes. You must remove the inductor though as a short across it you will kill it.

Awesome work, also I suggest you turn the backlight way down and add a heatsink to the main cpu help it cool.
