    Vizio E470i-A0 Question

Is there anyway to check the LED array without disassembling it.
I have aprox 130 v on the v outs when they are not on. I assume this is because the connection is open to the PS

It works sometimes for a while and then it quits.

Has anyone found a connection issue inside causing this?

    Thanks!

    Re: Vizio E470i-A0 Question

When it works for a while what are the voltages on the connectors? They may also be printed on the power supply.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

I'll try to get that if I can get it to stay on long enough.
      What should I expect

        Re: Vizio E470i-A0 Question

There should be a legend on the power supply board giving the various voltages on it at the various connectors.
        Some photo's could help.

          Re: Vizio E470i-A0 Question

I got lucky today and found a junk LG unit that has the same panel (almost.)
I connected the panel to the Vizio and the backlight works proving the problem is with the LED array.
The back plate is not the same, IE mounting points, so I plan on using the LG's backlight parts in the Vizios panel

There are no voltages marked on the PS board for the backlights.

I will post the working voltages when I get the panel fixed.

            Re: Vizio E470i-A0 Question

In post #1 "it works sometimes" then I wonder if you have a problem with the led strip connectors under the panel and not the leds themselves which is a problem found quite often. Soldering wire links across the connectors resolves this problem.

              Re: Vizio E470i-A0 Question

I guess we will see.. I have to disassemble the panel in any case so I might as well put in a working parts.
I will check out the old connector and see if it's bad.. I assume it's possibly open.

Not the issue. The connector PCB was fine.

The bottom row left side was causing the the problem with shutdown.
After I replaced that strip it fired up and I still had an issue.

I tested the suspect Left strips with a 20V power supply, the bottom left was completely dead. You can test the Left sides with a 20V supply but it's not enough to fire the whole strip. My guess is you can get the entire strip to fire if you have a supply that can bring 40 or 50 VDC to the entire strip.
The right side would not test this way.

The middle three rows were not firing.
Solution: Replace the left side L1 strip on the second from the top. The middle rows fired but still issues.

Three LEDs were out on different strips. Second row R1 right most, 4 row R1 right most, fifth row L1 has an LED that is slow starting takes about 10 seconds to fire.

Voltages while running: Will post when I get it off its back and reassembled.
The donor LG set had a lot of bad parts not enough to complete the job unfortunately

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                  by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

                  Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

                  Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                  Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

supply is 19 volts. Changed D9100 again, same, 12 volts measures 19. Am I looking at a power supply or mainboard
