Old Techwood (Vestel) with 17PW15 PSU

    Hi.

Had this set for ages, never been reliable enough to sell on. Had loads of issues with PSU, most of the common problems associated with caps have been dealt with. Just this last one I thought I might throw here to see if anyone's had it before I delve in deeper. Problem is initial switch on standby ok, press power button blue light goes off but no display, can't put back to standby have to power off completely. Second switch on, comes on but screen is a mess of random lines. Power off again and back on, set comes on fine and works. Only problem then is on bright scenes the audio crackles and goes off, then comes back on.

I know it's a PSU problem just wondering if anyone has had this one? There is also a faint buzz on the audio at all times while the set is on.

I have a 17PW20 in another set I could swap with, but that seems to have it's own problems. It's been a long time since I worked on these sets so can't remember what I have replaced, so this is just putting some feelers out.

Have you a OS scope and know how to use it to test the Psu output to see if theres any noise on the output which can cause the issues you describe ?

Yes I do have a scope, but not where the TV is (I've taken the set to my folks who I visit from time to time). It might be a few weeks before I get the scope to the set now, but next time I visit I will take the scope and perhaps the other power supply just to compare.

I should mention this problem of audio cracking off on bright scenes only happens on HDMI it seems, and it's not a fault on the main board as this is the 3rd one it's had (I damaged the original when I first fixed the power supply and didn't screw it down fully, the arc to the frame caused silicon damage). Works fine on SCART apart from the problem with initial power up.

I always struggle with Vestel circuit diagrams. I don't think this is a capacitor problem as I seem to remember replacing the usual bad ones (Chong - Samxxon etc) and did go over them all with an ESR meter.

The TV was stuck on the logo and I couldn't access the update menu.
I couldn't find the firmware for the Hitachi 32HAE2351 and updated it with the Toshiba 32WA2063DG - Vestel 17MB171 firmware.
The image result was good, but the image is inverted.
The image rotation/mirror function doesn't exist in the Menu Server. I can't correct the image.
Do you have the firmware for the Hitachi 32HAE2351 - Vestel 17MB171 motherboard or a solution to rotate the image in...

Unable to patch Techwood 55A)9UHD (Vestel mb230)
          by jimdhope
          Hi there everyone

I was wondering if I could get a little help. Back in November my wife and I bought a Techwood 55AO9UHD (running on the Vestel mb230 board) and it's been brilliant... except for one thing. We're unable to get the phone remote app to work.

I've contacted Techwood's Support line and they have kindly provided me with a copy of the firmware that was meant to fix the issue... of course it did not. The Virtual Remote is turned on in the TV setting but it's not really making a difference.

I also run a Home Assistant Server and though I'd...

Vestel tv, how to flip the image?
          by France_53
Hello everyone from Italy, I'm here to ask for help on a Vestel TV, I've had a Vestel TV branded "XD" with a broken screen for years, but now I've found a Telefunken (still Vestel but older) and I've mounted the panel on the "XD" TV, it works, but the screen is upside down, given that Vestel does not allow you to rotate the image from the service menu, does anyone know how to solve the problem? the original panel is marked ves315WNDS-2D-N12 while the main board 17mb110, the panel I mounted instead in the tv (from the telefunken) is a ves315WNDA-02. ... It is not worth repairing...

Need advice testing a samsung power supply board with scope
          by repair-it
I am attempting to test a samsung power supply board to verify the pfc ic is working. I am powering up the board with my isolation transformer. The board turns on fine but when I attempt to connect the ground for the scope probe, it trips out the isolator. I was taught not to 'float my scope' so I am wondering if I should test without connecting the ground lead or would that be asking for trouble? Not sure how else to test, I don't have a portable scope. I could plug direct to mains power but that would bypass the safety factor.

Help with Bush Tv (Vestel 17mb95m Mainboard)
          by FlailingEngineer
Hi, I was recently given a Bush Smart TV by a friend and the main board seems to be hanging on by a thread.

Before we get to that, my first obstacle was figuring out the model number since the back sticker has gone for a walk. Upon taking off the back case, I noticed the following Vestel parts, 17MB95m mainboard, 17IPS71 (what I'd assume is power supply) and a VES420UNVL-3D-S02 display panel. After doing some research I think the TV I have is a Bush ELED42240FHDCNTD3D, based on the matching image here (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/11...td3d.html#manu...
