Alba LCD42880F - Panel Water Marks?

Picked up this Alba set which has suddenly stopped working.
On inspection the side button controls was disconnected from the main board and the Vestel power supply 17PW26-4 V1 displayed the classic bulged capacitors.

Replaced all the caps and reconnected the side panel button connector and the set fires up OK.

But if you look at the screen especially from an angle it looks like a water tide mark across the screen.

Has anyone come experienced this before. The set has come from smokers and a fair amount of nicote stains the internal boards.

I wonder if someone tried to wash down the set and water has got behind the lcd panel.

I intend to open it up to clean the panel and see if that clears the problem but would be interested in knowing if anyone else has come across this.

Thanks Vincerogers. I'm hoping that's all it is. The TV picture is reasonably good so would be worth my time cleaning it up.

The diffusers might need a bath, Ive had this recently on a Ves315 panel water on the diffusers I just showered them down and wiped off set looks like new now image wise. Its called the Mura effect.

as Reecey said: The panel needs to be taken apart and the diffuser mats cleaned.

On opening I have never seen so much water holding the sheets together. They have all had a good clean and I'm just waiting for the top sheet to dry.
Next it's onto giving the LCD panel a careful but thorough clean. The amount of food stuck to it. Arghhh.

Might be best to actually bath it matey, as just drying one area from what I have found causes patches in areas.
