Panasonic TC-P55VT60 7 Blinks. Need Advice

I have a Panasonic TC-P55VT60 someone gave me.

When I first powered on the TV, it did work for a while. I was able to see how many hours(4,000) and firmware, etc. The picture is really good. So I'm determined to get this up and running. Now I never get a picture, just the SOS error codes. I haven't found much in my searches on this particular model in terms of fixit articles and videos. A search on this forum doesn't turn up anything. I do assume it is similar to other models though and they is why I'm seeking some help.

The TV has the SOS 7 syndrome. After a lot of reading, I assumed it was an SC, SU, SD problem, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I was able to get all three boards for a good price. The boards look good and continuity checks out fine on the SU, SD boards. I'm not sure how to test the SC board, but I have two.

Anyway, I swapped out all three boards and I still have the SOS 7 problem.

Here is what I have done:

    1. Replace SU, SD and SC board on the set. Still get SOS 7 error code.
    2. Disconnected the SC board from the SU and SD boards(power and ribbon cable) and turned on the set. Still get SOS 7 error code.
    3. Disconnected the SS board(power and ribbon cable) and turned on the set. I now get an SOS 8 error code.

    I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Shorted SS possibly, have you a multimeter with diode mode ?

I have the exact same problem mine is a TC-P50ST60, picked it up for free to fix.. did all the trouble shooting and replaced the SU,SD,SC boards as suggested in the repair manual. Also checked for short at sc2, sc20, and Vsus.... Let me know if you find anything? I'll be keeping an eye on this thread looking forward to see if you can get yours repaired.

They give these tv's away for free??? Damn....

Measure the connector on SS board with and without connected to the powersupply. Measure for short.

Probably worth backprobing the SC2 connector in DC, typical voltage could be 205 -215V so set the meter accordingly. Turn the tV on and see if you see Vsus as it starts up before it trips off.

Missing Vsus will trigger 7 blink.

Also if not tried, disconnect the sd/su from the SC, remove the sd/su grounding bolts typcally there are 4. On the SC, locate and short together the 2 pins at SC50, turn the TV on and see if it 7 blinks still.

Ok it's been a while. I tested sc 50 the 7 blinking lights didn't change. I did see the tiny srv led turn green for a split second and then go dark.

I can't measure Vsus because the tv doesn't display anything on the screen.

I have continuity on the y boards. Wierd thing is I used to get a picture at least for a little while now I get nothing. I used two different meters and it appears that there is a power failure as it is only measuring millivolts and low voltage on sd board and the power board.

Its normal that you get low voltage when the tv is blinking.

7 blinks is a failure on one of the boards.

Makes sense. I replaced all Y board(3), still 7 blinks.

You mean you replaced the SC and both buffer boards? EDIT : You already mentioned it in your first post!

I think the problem is on the SS board. Disconnect the cable and measure for shorts on the SS board connector.

I repaired a 50GT60 this week , image is AMAZING. Much better then my VT50 but i still sold it because of the design......

Sorry you are correct. I will measure the SS board for shorts.

Yes I DO I pulled the SS board out. There is no doubt that this board was once repaired. I can see solder residue in 4 areas.

Soldering appears to be factory could be residue or board coating that has changed color from heat

Does anyone have any tips for testing the SS board before I purchase one?

Does anyone know if there is a difference between tnpa5765 AC (VT series)and a tnpa5765 AH or AB(T series)? I ask because the AH looks almost identical and is more readily available.

I'd get the right one. There's a difference in the centre of the board with a bunch of inductors. Shopjimmy has Rev AC in stock anyway.

Re: Panasonic TC-P55VT60 7 Blinks. Need Advice

It does not matter what kind of Panasonic tv you have. The measurements is the same.

The pictures are from a 50GT50 SS board. They used the 30F132/45F132 mosfets on these boards.

You need to measure EVERY part on the board as i measured on the pictures. Meter in diode/beep mode.

Q = mosfet --> measure outer legs. Beep is bad.

D = diode --> black on middle pin , red on outer legs. ( left and right leg ).

If you measure outer legs on the diode part it will beep.

The SS prong connector MIGHT give a beep for a short periode of time , if it beeps both ways then its shorted. If it beeps for a short period of time and then goes away then it's probably good. Just measure the parts to be sure.

This is for ALL parts on the SC / SS and powersupply.

Hope this helps you a bit on your way
