Hello all ~
I was able to pick up a Hitachi P50S601 for free the other day and need some advice on how to proceed. I have already replaced the two 3300uf caps that were bulging (to nobody's surprise), and this brought to life the SDR-U board and a compromised top half of the picture appeared. However, the SDR-D appears to be defective because when that is plugged into the YSUS, the 3 blinking blue lights appear and no picture is displayed at all.
The problem I am trying to solve at the moment (before plugging in a functioning SDR-D in and potentially damaging that too) is the fact that the top half of the picture is filled with green, very thin, vertical lines (hundreds of them) that essentially ruin the image. These vertical lines move in concert with the movements of images on the screen. For example, when watching an animated movie, the green lines will become brighter and will essentially follow the movements of the characters. This is especially pronounced when there is a brighter feature on the screen. For instance, when one of the animated character's white eyes move across the screen, these green vertical lines will become far more white and will move in unison from left to right and vice-versa with the character's eyes.
Has anyone seen this type of greenish hue prominently affecting the screen, and what is the likely culprit?
I have already tested it on both HDMI 1 and on Input 1 (where I hooked up the DVD player and started the animated movie), but the results are the same. I do not think the problem is port-related.
Also, I am able to bring up the Menu with the Hitachi remote control, and these green vertical lines appear over the top of this menu.
The sound works fine. No apparent problem there.
I am curious what will happen when I go to replace the SDR-D board with one I can take out of a working Hitachi P50H401. However, if I can fix this green line issue on the top half first, I will be far more confident that I will not damage the working SDR-D board and will be able to piece together an entire working 50" screen.
Please see pictures below.
{Note: I know there appear to be horizontal lines as well as the vertical, but it is the vertical that actually move across the screen from left to right in concert with the images on the screen. I have already tried to unseat and reseat the ribbons that come out of the SDR-U into the set itself. This did not change the problem. When seated improperly, the small but distinguishable gaps between the green and black horizontal lines actually become grow a bit larger and therefore are much more pronounced than what you see in the pictures I have posted below. So, I don't know if the vertical and the horizontal line issues can or will be fixed with the same troubleshoot, or if fixing the vertical lines will not necessarily correct the horizontal issue as well. Just thought I would address the vertical first and foremost.}
