    Sceptre X425BV-FHD

    Issue:
Red Standby Light is on. When I press the Power Button on the TV or the Remote, the Blue Light comes on, Backlights Come On, Sceptre Splash Screen Displays, Splash Screen goes away, Backlights stay on. Backlights turn off (Blue Light still On), backlights turn on, Sceptre Splash Screen reappears, Splash screen goes away, backlights stay on, backlights go off, and finally the status light goes from blue to red. (this all happens in 25-30 seconds)

Oddly enough, every third push of the power button and the TV will come on and operate normally (if I don't turn the unit off)

My electronics skill level is...well it isn't. Everything I've learned about TV's has been due to reading your forum posts and ShopJimmy videos.

I did a check of the boards and I couldn't find any bulging or blown capacitors or anything that looked like a tell tale sign that something went amuck.

On the Power Supply (MLT668TL-VM) I got the following voltages:
    Plugged In, Powered Off
    Everything read 0.0 Volts, except
    CON2, Pin 8, Yellow Wire, in the STB 5VSB 5V area: 5.0v

I was really hoping it was the Inverter. I disconnected the Inverter from the PS and the MB. The TV started to work and doing the flash light test, I could see an image. Cycled the power off and on a few times with good results. Then the issue reappeared and start to go through the original problem. I plugged the Inverter back into the PS but not the MB and much to my surprise, the TV turned on and worked properly but with a BLON of 3.3v at the Inverter. However, even with the Inverter disconnected to the MB, the original issue occurred again. (So I've found nothing out)

All the voltages are steady and I don't see any fluctuations.

When the TV decides to work, it looks great...well, as great as a Sceptre can.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?
    by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...

Tiny Tech ATX480W output power ticking
    by mikey5791
    Hi to all forum members,

This psu (Tiny Tech model ATX 480W) had been installed in a very old Windows XP PC but recently i pulled it out as the pc cannot start. To test it, i jumped the green wire and black wire on the 24 pin connector. The psu fan jerk a bit but not spinning. I used my dmm to check dc voltage on output connector wire, the 5v red wire keeps ticking a bit at around dc1v....then drops and ticking again around 1v. It is the same situation with the 12v yellow wire.

Fyi, i desoldered the secondary side electrolytic cap those over 1000uf...

Sceptre U500CV-UMK8L - *No Picture* – has audio & backlights
    by heathloder
    Hi everyone!

I have a Sceptre U500CV-UMK8L (49” 4K LED TV) that powers on (Standby LED changes from RED to BLUE) when using either the remote or the power button built-in to the display, but I get no image on the screen.

The backlights power up, and I can play audio through the HDMI 1 input, and the audio will play through the TV's speakers – the screen is just black (despite being lit up by the backlights).

A little background: when I first encountered this TV a few weeks ago, it had an issue where about 50% of the time, the TV would power up normally,...

New wire for my RDE3340 Whirlpool electric range
    by wnlewis
OK. I got the rocker switch figured out thanks to the good advice on this forum.

Now I need to figure out the correct wire to go to the switch from the broiler element and from the oven element.

This is a Whirlpool RDE3340 electric range.

The common wire on the switch appears to have a high temperature insulating material. I am guessing that both the wire to the broiler and the wire to the oven elements also need relatively high temperature insulation. What do I need to look for? The broiler is rated at about 2400 watts.

    Where may I find parts...

Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK, 80U00002US battery cable wire broken.
    by emeskay
We have an Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK that we use as a secondary laptop. To cut a long story short, around May 2023, while traveling, I connected the laptop into an electrical outlet that was already switched on. Something made a "pfft" sound and the laptop refused to turn on after that. After getting back home, I gave the the laptop for repair to an informal repair person. He replaced the adapter and an internal motherboard part, but after he returned it I noticed that the LCD did not look normal. Essentially, every alternate horizontal line on the screen had gone missing. The laptop was...
