LG 60pv450 - test pattern mean z-y subs OK?

I have a hopefully quick question regarding test patterns. I have a 60pv450 LG Plasma.

The test pattern jumper gives me perfect test patterns. Buttons respond, but without the test pattern jumper in, I get a green, pixelated screen with illegible menus (with sound) on any port without signal, and dark screen on those ports with signal applied. Unplugging z and y subs together or individually, still hear the sound, but dark (no green screen).

My question is--since I get a perfect test pattern (with the jumper in the control board) does that mean the z and y sub cards definitely aren't bad? (And it's the main board or possibly the control board?) Or can you get a good test pattern even with one of those cards bad?

You have a bad main board. I fixed 2 of this model number already. My main boards had 2 versions, the only difference is the plug on the side is turned 90° . It still fits and works.

I think you're right--I was just wondering if the experts on this board consider a good test pattern enough to absolutely, positively conclude it CAN'T be the z and y sub boards.

(I actually ran a heat gun on the main board earlier, by the way, which got me from no video at all to my current situation. I'm going to try it again.)

I am 100% certain it is the main board. Reflow may work, for how long???????

If done properly and you replace the heatsink with a good one maybe fan cooled yes can last for long maybe.

When I first got this tv, after replacing a fuse, it only had standby--no video at all, no pattern, and no buttons worked. After first try with heat gun (low setting, 4 or 5 minutes moving over most components but concentrating on the main chip) it got to this state--sound, and green screen when there's no signal (goes black when there IS signal on hdmi) and working test pattern.

Tried two more times with the heat gun, low setting, a few minutes longer, but no change.

I see replacement boards at around $100.00 so I'll probably have to go that route. Mine is EBT61663001 which seems to be harder to find than some other versions--I'd love to repair it though. Anyone know if there's a repair kit for these things--or any component that's most likely to be the source of the failure I could gamble on replacing?

If not... I'll probably make one last go with the heat gun--nothing to lose. I'll go longer and maybe even on high for a bit... at this point I'm going to either fix it or melt it.

You will need to properly reflow the Cpu and maybe even replace and reball a new one in to sort it I would say. If not buy a replacement mainboard and then put a better heatsink on the Cpu help it last longer.

Thanks for that info, as I'll be getting a board soon. Do you have a good source, or just ebay and hope for the best?
