    PANASONIC TH42PX8E - Various Faults

    Hi All,

I've been given the above TV to repair if possible.

I'll dive right into it if I may.

    PANASONIC TH42PX8E

    Fault behaviour:

Firstly turning on the TV - First two times I got a Picture - the OSD stating no source found - what you would expect to see during normal operation without an aerial attached.

After maybe 60 seconds the picture cuts out, and I am presented with a sequence of 12 blinking lights

I again turned on the TV. Same result, however I was watching and noticed that a green square ran across the very top of the screen.... and then 12 blinking lights.

Now a quick google and it would appear that the fault is with what's known as the A board.

Before I committed to opening up the TV, I ran through the one/off procedure... now each time I am only getting 9 blinking lights - no picture.

This fault code means Panel Config SOS.

    This is where I'm stumped.

First couple of times I got picture before a 12 blinking light failure.

Now each attempt is 9 blinking lights.

I'm unsure what exactly Panel Config SOS means as the Technical Manual doesn't really state what to troubleshoot... can anyone help?

I'll leave the Power lead removed while I'm asleep and re connect to see if I can again get a picture tomorrow.

    Hi All,

I am still stuck with a 9 blink red LED sequence. PANEL CONFIG SOS error. This leads me to believe that it's possible software related?

I would first remove the back cover and see if you notice any obvious things. A green haze does not sound good but that can be the buffer boards / sc board / ss board OR mainboard.

I think i have read somewhere that the mainboard goes bad very often together with the power supply.

I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

Ok, I will take the back off once I get time and space. I need to do some research into the different components that make up a plasma TV.

Thanks for the help so far. I know 12 blinking lights indicate to replace the A board....
