Looks like D201 is a schottky also. It appears to test OK, but I only have a cheap analog meter with a 1K ohm setting, no 10K option. But I get full scale one way, nothing at all the other way. I'm assuming D201 is good.

According to that page it is a schottky diode. I got an analog multimeter to test them with the instructions I found here: http://www.electronicrepairguide.com...tky-diode.html

One of them appears to test good, the other one is shorted both ways.
That is the power for the backlights. Change both diodes for at least 200V 3A or higher schottky. Check the Mosfet Q301.

For now, you could take the bad schottky out (the run parallel) and don't hook up the backlight. See if the 12V returns.

I found the diodes at DigiKey.

Q301 appears to be bad, at least according to the method I found on how to test with a DMM.

I removed it, shorted all the pins together, then used the diode check function on my meter with the negative on the source and the positive on the drain, I get continuity before triggering the gate.

It's part number is TK13A25, DigiKey appears to not have them. Checking around for a replacement now.

Edit - DigiKey suggests 497-12570-5-ND as a replacement.

I the Drain and or the Source pin shorted to the Gate? if it is shorted to the gate pin, then you would have to check out the gate drive circuit and the PWM too.

No, neither appears to be shorted to the gate.

Does the diode and the MOSFET both being bad explain the issues, or might it be deeper than that?

My parts from Digi-Key arrived today, so I replaced the 2 diodes and the MOSFET.

                  Success!

Being new to all of this on repairing tv's, did you happen to have the part numbers for the diodes on digikey's site? I see the mosfet one, but am unsure which one to order.

                        Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                        Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

                        by ju123
                        Hi guys,

So, I've been racking my brains on this one.

                        I have a Satellite C50-A which I'm repairing for a friend.

I recently replaced the main board due to failure.

Following this, absolutely everything works perfectly, except for the fact it won't power down.

Initially, shutting down via Windows would shut the OS down, screen would turn off (noticed the lighter black go to what looks like the darker black powered off screen as though the backlights have powered off), however the laptop was still running internally with a spinning...

                        by robgerr
Good morning forum. This laptop comes into my laboratory with the defect that it won't turn on. By connecting the bench power supply I have an absorption of 1.56A (battery charging), I disconnect the battery, I have an absorption of 0.01A. I give the power on but it doesn't react. I check the mainboard and I notice the Isl88732 charger with oxide and a little burnt between pins 7-8. I remove the charger, clean the pads and solder another ISL coming from another identical board. I also find a bit of oxide in the power button connector. I clean the connector, clean the flat that goes to the power...
