SAMSUNG UN40H5201 2015 with failed LEs

Got this one in today, made in APRIL 2015 and it failed in one year, just out of warranty.
It uses one LED string with 38 LEDs is series, 12 of them are shorted (<1 Ohm resistance), 2 of them are open.
I am going to order the LEDs from ALIEXPRESS to replace all of them to see how well it will work out.

New curse of modern electronics - shit LEDs dying. Sometimes in interesting ways.

A road tunnel near me recently had upgraded LED lights installed, approximately 100 lamps were installed to replace the existing halogen lights. After six months, I have spotted five that are flashing on and off rapidly, indicative of failing LEDs. And these are supposedly selected for reliability!

Are you sure they weren't HPS or metal halide for the previous ones?

The USA usually has HPS for road lighting.

I have had it on a Vestel where one failed open then the rest of the drive load gets shot on to the others before it shorting them out maybe same case here ?

Couldn't be an open LED (that would cut power to the rest of the circuit) but possibly an LED failing intermittently could cause the driver to go a little mad and pulse the LEDs with far too much current.

Tom I have seen open Led damage the driver before, it is a possibility that one open could cause the others behind it to get overloaded.
