    Technika 46-270 Backlight control

    Hello All,

I recently completed a repair on this set thanks to the help given on this Forum but now I'm seeking some advice.

The On Screen Menu allows you to adjust brightness, contrast, colour and select some preset picture setting Dynamic, Cool etc. including your personal settings.

What I cannot find is a direct link to increasing/decreasing the backlight level.

Is this only available in the Service Menu and does anyone know what the sequence is to gain access to it.

    Thanks
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Hi Paul, these Umc Tv's do not offer the option to dim the backlight its at one set level permanently. Even in the service menu which can be accesses via usb you cant change the Bl level. If you set the Tv to eco home it does dim it slightly though.

      Thanks Reeceyburger123.
I'm a fussy viewer and did not really find a setting that I liked without considering it would look better if I could lower the backlights slightly.
      Appreciated.

No worries saves them having to design a dimmer circuit, I guess you could build on which you have to manually adjust on the Tv could be a project lol

You can increase the value of the I sensing resistor to drop the constant current flowing through the LED string.

            That is the other option.

I tell you one thing, they drive the Lcds wrongly when it comes to the panel level correction which is why they look so bad, bit like these newer Vestels do. It's because they are universal boards just adapted to drive the Lcd rate not that specific screen.

Thanks budm. I did think of that but was looking for an easier solution ie via the menu like most other sets.

EIZO CX270 - No signal but Backlight and Panel works, logo works, admin menu works. OSD doesn't. What?!
                      by vf fa
Hi, so i guess I´ll have to make a new topic here, as i browsed through hundreds of other threads but couldn't find a solution to my problem yet.

I got a EIZO CX270 from a friend. He said it doesn't work anymore and wont display any signal or take any OSD inputs. Well, as an aspiring photographer I couldn't say no, could I? Thought it was an easy game, replace a bad cap and have a working monitor. But nooope, it wasn't supposed to be this easy.

So let me start with the problem description. I'll try my best not to skip anything so this might get rather long.

Trying to control Philips backlight manually with PWM — brightness increases with frequency...?
                      by ohren
I raised the question of whether PWM on the power board "dim" pin would be a reasonable assumption for controlling the backlight of a Philips TV (55put6101/12): https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...d-tv-backlight. I didn't receive any insights there so I went ahead and tried it.

                      The setup is basically:

                      Rpi3 hardware PWM → 220 Ohm → NPN transistor → dim pin

Transistor is switching the 3.5 V supply on the power board....

UN65TU700DF picture and sound but no backlight. BL tests ok but repl. PSU didnt fix!
                      by triplefour
this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

Vizio D32f-E1 Powers on, has backlight, won't boot/no logo, no menu or video
                      by JaquesPratt
I have a Vizio D32f-E1 LCD TV that does NOT have a TCON board.

This TV recently went through some 'death throes' and now won't boot. The first problem that began to manifest was while watching tv, the screen would 'freeze', and the image would dim over a few seconds until it was very dark. HOWEVER, the audio of the show would continue as normal. I could power off the TV for 5-20 seconds, power back on, and the video would be normal. This would occur 1-3 times when the TV was first started, and would not happen again after the TV was 'warmed up'. Not ideal, but this glitch was manageable....
