LG 60pz550 TV has suddenly quit receiving signals on the front end. That is it is not receiving any signal from the antenna input, no channels. The TV works fine in every other respect, we can watch DVDs or go to netflix through the wifi dongle. I have rigged a band aid for the wife by using an old converter box as a tuner with an AV output to the TV. She now has all available channels and another remote to change them. My question: Has anyone else had this problem with this TV? Is this another bad solder problem? As this thing is a bear to open because of its size does anyone know what the part number is for the tuner board? I would like to have one in hand when I do open it up. Thanks to all for help and advice. This is definitely a goto site for working on this TV.

Tuners seem to be pretty reliable your main might be failing in some way that's affecting the tuner.
Check SJ for pics that might show the part in question if your inclined to change it and can find it out in the wild -

Has the TV lost both analogue and digital TV reception. Could you have lost the supply voltage to the tuner?Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Thanks for the replies and advice. I have not opened it up to do any troubleshooting. Tried two different antennas before installing the old converter so nothing analogue or digital through the antenna jack. Checking supply voltages is a good idea. Seems to have fallen into the "roundtoit" bucket but will get to it soon. Web research so far indicates the board hard to find and expensive. Any help here will be appreciated. Have already been through replacing the bad solder problem about a year ago with the sustain board. I resoldered the old board and replaced some IGBTs and was able to try it before the new board arrived but it still had a problem, did get a picture though. Another "roundtoit" on the shelf. I hear the Sea Ray at the marina calling.Comment

I can hear Fred Sanford now...."YOU BIG DUMMY".....I pulled the "F" connector out of the tuner by accident. The tuner number is BN40-00248B. Low and behold I had a scrap board with tuner number BN40-00248A. Although the tuner is different (according to Encompass.com) it's footprint on the board is exactly the same as the 248B so I decided to de-solder the tuner off the scrap board to see what I was getting in to.
As you can see in the picture the terminals and solder pads are super small. No matter what I tried I could not get either the terminals or support... -
Hello, i had this amp sitting in the closet knowing that none of the channels were working. After taking it all apart i found 4 bulging main filter caps so i went ahead and replaced those with low ESR kmet caps. However after doing this it only restored sound to Surround L, Surround R, and Center channel. The main speaker fuse on the transformer F905/F906 keeps blowing so i decided to remove all of the transistor's on those 4 channels and measure them. All transistors appear to be in good working order(turned receiver on with none of them installed and fuse still blows). Checked dual emitter resistors... -
My tv will work for a while and change channels with the remote as it should but then it will stick on one channel only and work ok but it won't change channels. I have tried unplugging it for hours and whilst unplugged pressing the power button on the tv to reset it.
The volume button on the remote still works but it just won't change channels once it decides to stick on one channel
It has built in basic freeview tv here in the uk, I've tried doing an automatic search to reset the tv but nothing works.

"TQ" Subject at hand is a Marantz 120 tuner. The tuner lit up but no output. Recapped the entire unit. Before it was working fine tuning in Stereo and Mono. Now it just about tunes Stereo and some of the mono stations are weak. Nothing else was changed. When you do hit a stereo station the stereo lamp will come on but flickers as it's trying to hold the MPX signal.
I don't see how bringing the unit back with new caps checked by my Sencore LC103 would effect the FM section. Every Value is as it was from the factory?
