ACER AL2216W high pitch sound, DAC-19M009 inside

    Hey everyone,

This monitor is making a high pitch sound when the display is on.

Here is the list of visible caps:
    • (1) 400v 120uF - 31.3mm tall x 18.2mm diameter / 0621(M) 105C - (AQ)P
    • (3) 25v 220uF - 12.6mm tall x 8.25mm diameter / CapXon KF P620 Vent
    • (1) 25v 330uF - 15mm tall x 8.31mm diameter / 0613(M) 105C - (HD)P
    • (1) 10v 2200uF - 20.4mm tall x 13.2mm diameter / CapXon KF P608 Vent
    • (1) 50v 22uF - 11.95mm tall x 5.22mm diameter / GL 105C P616
    • (2) 25v 1000uF ( one is also on its side) - 20.78mm tall x 10.58mm diameter / CapXon KF P620 Vent
    • (1) 10v 1000uF - 17.11mm tall x 10.28mm diameter / 0619 (M)

I also made a short youtube video where I am finding the source of the sound

Obviously you need to replace all those CapXon caps that are bulging and leaking electrolyte everywhere!

Yes, they all appear to be bulging so replace with good caps of equal ESR & Ripple rating.
In any case when replacing caps all of the same brand/series are always replaced.
Otherwise you will just need to go back in a month and redo the job...

P.S: I deleted your other post as it was a double, just a small warning reminder from something you wrote in it:
The heatsinks are commonly live so be very careful about putting your hands close to them when the PSU is plugged in!

What site would you recommend for purchasing the caps that can ship to canada?

            This site of course
Although the specs of these caps might be pushing it.
(They might be too good and cause oscillation if you are unlucky).

How much can I change the ripple current? for example

I am looking up options for the first capacitor

Capacitor on my board I need to replace

              Options to choose from

I can choose from a 730mA or a 1.22A capacitor, 730 is closest to my current 780mA capacitor but it still sounds kinda high compared to it. Should I match the mA perfectly and choose a different size?

With ripple current you can always go up, higher is better. (But never go down).
It's the ESR that you need to match more closely. (Ideally don't drift more than 20% unless you know the circuit can handle it).

But for an input capacitor it does not matter, they are general purpose caps.
Also realize you can go up in voltage, Digikey has one at 420v and 3 more at 450v

                  Hi cangerules,
I came upon your post after fruitlessly searching the internet and Badcaps. Thank you very much for identifying the capacitors
My monitor and PSU. are exactly the same as yours - Acer AL2214W and DAC-19M009 - but I don't have a high pitch sound - the monitor slowly died. On disassembly, I found 7 caps are bulging (2 of them also leaking), so I need to replace them. The only problem I have is that one of them (identified on the board as CE103) is glued horizontally to the board (above CE105 - 2200uF 10V) and when I tried levering it off, the glue stripped the capacitor value (but not the voltage which is 25 V). I'm assuming that the "(2) 25v 1000uF ( one is also on its side) - 20.78mm tall x 10.58mm diameter / CapXon KF P620 Vent" is the CE103 (horizontally mounted) and the other being CE102 which is vertically mounted (just above the connector).
My apologies for not posting a photo of my board with the CE103 marked (to make my post a little explicit and clearer), but every time I tried, my post was marked "UNAPPROVED".
Could you verify that CE103 is the "one also on its side" please?
                  Sincerely,
                  John Graham

I came across replacement PSUs at AliExpress (see links below) - apparently, the DAC-19M009 can be replaced by DAC-19M005 through DAC-19M008 - can anyone confirm?

I have taken the liberty of adding notes beside your list of capacitors for people (like me) who stumble on this site and come across your post - the notes are clarifications for the cap Numbers on the board (specifically the DAC-19M009 BF, Rev 01A (other boards will differ).

                        Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

                        Hello to the forum.

My name is Christos, I am new to the forum here and i am posting from Greece.

So i have this old German sound card from Marian, called Trace Alpha. To be exact i have 2 of them and i use them professionally for my small FM radio station here. The first one works like a charm, but the second one does not work at all.

To be more specific in the same exact pc with windows 7 (i even tried 32bit) the one works while the other doesn't.

So i tried asking for a schematic from the company and they would not give me one. Instead they...
