    2010 samsung pn50c550 y buffer/yboard problems

Hi. i recently got my hands on the above mentioned tv a buddy found in the trash. it turned on, chimed, no picture but sound when i found a channel. removed back, slow green blink on control board.

looked online and decided to check the y sus board. found smatterings on the metal case behind the board and found 2 opens on the board at the smatterings location. I repaired them and still no go. caps all looked ok with no signs of cold or bad solder joints. i don't know how to test this board further. i then followed tests on youtube for checking for shorts on the y buffer and so far found none. i then removed the control and power from the y sus and got a steady quick "pulse" from the green led. power from y sus then feeds x, so i reconnected the power to the y sus with control cable still off and still got a green "pulse".

can i infer from this that the x boards are still ok?

ohyea, i also checked the vs, v- and the 3rd for power and they peak correctly then drop while connected to the y sus board. so i am assuming power supply is ok.

i have since ordered a y sus board online but couldn't find a reasonable y buffer. Are there any other problems a y buffer could have that would take out the y sus immediately or in time? i only checked the ground to panel pins. any other checks i should make?

    Another question...

i noticed that of the 4 input plugs on the y buffer board, most of the pins are common grounds. Why would they use so many common grounds when a single or double ground would reduce 4 plugs to just one?

    Last question.

Some of my research suggests that excessive heat is largely responsible for so many board failures in plasma tv's. Why did they not install a fan? Would installing a small fan do any good?

Thank you all for your time.

    Rodster.

    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Schematic or datasheet for Plasma TV buffer chip
    by Yanleb
    Hi all,

I'm interested in understanding how a buffer board chip is working. I know there's about 90 outputs per chip to the plasma panel, but I'm more interested to know about the input pins. I guess that some of them are address pins, but I want to know more.

So far I've found nothing at all. I haven't found any datasheet about the various buffer chips, and I haven't found any schematic for the buffer board using them (Y Buffer Board in Samsung's terminology).

Any information will make me happy. It can be from any buffer chip or plasma TV manufacturer....

i verified the driver of the péripherals and they are ok. i verified the definition and settings of the graphic card and of the screen : definition 1600x900 and refreshment frequency :60hz. (they are the sames for the graphic card and the screen).
i don't understand the reasons of the white stripe at the bottom of the screen below the task...

    USB problems?
    by Hondaman
Recently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.

(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)

I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the...

Lenovo 11e problems (any sata hdds are not recognized, sleep battery drain)
    by clabr
Need help to solve some problems with this laptop.

After working in bed with it one night and heating up too much (probably the cause of this problems) the sata HDD OS windows froze
After restart the original Sata HDD was not recognized anymore (but works fine in other laptops or PCs)

Tried connecting other good Sata 2.5 HDDs but not one is working in this laptop anymore (not the original nor others)

Before this had happened I observed some other problems:
When I tried replacing original mecanical HDD with a SSD HDD could not get them...
