Samsung plasma SPN4235 does not turn on

A friend gave this to me and it does not work. Is this thing even worth any effort. I have successfully fixed my own Samsung LCD by replacing the caps and have gotten some great help on here to fix my Panasonic LCD by replacing a board. This is sort of a hobby of mine so I don't know much of the terms used on here. I can solder well and have a test meter. Nothing looks to be the culprit from just looking over the caps. It's a 2003 unit so it's old but the fella said it was fine till last week. I thought at first that the big 350uf 450v caps were bad but when I took off the plastic tops they do not looks to be spli open. They were also labeled Samsung on the sides so they are usually good caps right?

OK upon further inspection I see something wrong. There is a chip or not sure what you call it but it's blown or cracked etc. It is right next to a 22uf 450v cap and looks to have about 8 solder locations. The board is labeled ic2 next to it. What now?

Blown SMPS IC IC2. The black round fuses are good? I expect some blown fuse too.
How about the pictures of the whole board and the board P/N, BN44-?????

I have checked the links in the threads provided and Googled the IEC2A280 but no hits at all. Is this TV junk?

Try it on ebay or on google for the oart, also replace the resistor and small caps around that area as well as the 22uf 450v cap. If not get a PSU its worth saving this old unit

PSU = Power Supply Unit. You could just replace the whole board mate.

So I never got this going as I couldn't find a new to me board that wasn't over a hundred bucks. I have revisited fleabay and found several good looking boards that are about 35 bucks so I may pull the trigger and get one to see if this baby can live again.

OK so I got a board for 25 bucks delivered. I replaced a few caps that were suspect but It is ALIVE!
I canabalized the LG for the speakers and it now has sound. Can I use the speaker outputs to run RCA's to an Amplifier? How does the subwoofer hook up?
Thanks for helping me get this going guys and gals!

You can try LittleDiode. They are UK based but can provide obsolete parts. I've used them on several occasions.

So it seems the sound has gone out. I don't really use this tv much. It seems to have gone out after turning it off one day. Turned it back on some time later and no sound...
