Sony Bravia KDL-46EX723 PSU Dead, No Standby

    Hi folks,

it's been a while since I've posted on this great resource! FYI I have exhausted myself searching and testing but still need some assistance please.

The original situation: It started as a 5 blink error code, which means TCON, Panel or HWR(from service manual). I tried reseating the LVDS cable and nothing changed, then I disconnected the two ribbons that go from TCON to Panel and viola!! The TV came on with green LED lit and backlights lit.

So I tried again with one of each panel ribbon connected and with the left one connected it was 5 blink error and with right cable connected the TV came alive.

The situation NOW: The TV was sitting there on and I was testing the TCON fuse voltages and all of a sudden it turned off(I am 99% sure I didn't short it out). Now the PSU is DEAD!!

There is zero power on the secondary connector pins including STBY.

The main filter cap is getting ~170v(USA 120v mains).

I'm suspecting the standby IC cct but not sure how to go about testing to be sure. The IC is:

    MIP2H2

No datasheet available but there is a cct here: http://www.irantk.ir/Power_IC/irantk_Datasheet/MIP2H2_Schematic.pdf

Would any of you kind folks be able to help me proceed?

First, do you think it's a bad panel and I should just scrap my efforts? Or maybe it's tcon(cheap) and I should pursue fixing the PSU(expensive)?

    Much appreciated! Pictures attached.

UPDATE: Standby 3.3v is THERE... Not sure if it was my oversight or maybe because it was sitting in the sun for a while. Still no front led or relay click. Hope I didn't kill the main board...

I guess the next test is manually trigger BL_ON?

Every pin on BOTH connectors reads 0v except STBY3.3.

One more update: I applied voltage to POWER ON via 470ohm resistor and STBY3.3v. This fired up the PSU. I heard the relay click and most of the 12v pins came on.(tcon vcc did NOT come on but assuming because I need to also apply 3.3v to TCON ON)

Is it a fried main board?

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-46EX723 PSU Dead, No Standby

The commands to the power supply board are generated by the main board, so something on the main board is at fault to not send the command signals or it is locked out due to error.
Is the AC_OFF DET at 0V? It should be 3V or more for normal operation.

Thanks Bud. I've checked all the fuses(tiny!) that I could locate on the main board and they checked out.

Did you happen see in the original post about the original problem? Was wondering what you thoughs were on whether it's a bad panel(tab bonds?) or just bad tcon.

          Main board= $125
          TCON=$40

          probably not worth it eh?

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
            by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

Sony Bravia 55HX820 - 4 times blinking red standby led
            by androripara
            Hello everyone,
i am trying to repair a Sony KDL-55HX820 led TV which is throwing error code 4 (standby led flashing four times).

I followed the troubleshooting flowchart at page 69, and between pin1 and pin7 of CN6002 i am reading 1.91V so i guess i can rule out the B Board as the culprit.
Before ordering new G* Boards (by the way, should i change both? it is not specified in the manual) i wanted to try and do more advanced troubleshooting since i've read in other threads people resolving their problems on the 46/55 HX 820/823/825 models by replacing the Samsung led...

Greetings to all, a while ago my TV was dead, it didn't turn on and the standby light was off, the next day it is working. But these days it no longer wants to turn on, I did some troubleshooting, I disconnected the main board, I checked the voltage on the backlight and there is 400 DC, when I connect it again the main board the voltage drops, in all that troubleshooting, miraculously the standby light comes on and the TV works. After an hour I check and test, I turn on the TV, the Stanby light flashes 3 times and it...

Sony Bravia XBR-65x900f: No Power, No Standby-light - however 3.3v STBY is present
            by SkishyIshy
            Hey All,

            I have a Sony 65x900f that I purchased cheap because of a no-power issue.
I assumed that because there is no standby light visible, it would be an easy fix - however upon opening up of the unit I can confirm that the 3v3 standby voltage is making it's way from the power supply to the main board. I'm a little confused as to why there is no standby light.

I am firstly wondering if anyone has this model of TV, or has worked on one and can give me some insight. I have tried to find a service manual for this model, to no avail - and would really appreciate...

Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
            by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.
