Need to get a serial wire on order lol or get one when I next go Maplin. In the mean time does any one have any info on the 7 blue blink error ?

Any ideas chaps ? Got a serial cable on order to see if I can run the service menu. All main voltages present until shutdown.

I got an Rs232 but cant seem to get into the Sm on this one. From what I read the Mb appears to be at fault.

Will be giving this a go soon, definitely a mainboard fault but I will need to fix it as I cant find a replacement just short of time atm.

Are you using an usb to serial converter so it can run from a laptop. I have found that although they work 90% of the time, on connecting to some serial ports they do not work because the output voltages from the converter is to low.
Sometimes there's confusion over the Tx/Rx pins so it may be worth crossing those pins and try again.

Are you using an usb to serial converter so it can run from a laptop. I have found that although they work 90% of the time, on connecting to some serial ports they do not work because the output voltages from the converter is to low.

Hi, I have Pioneer PDP-436PG pioneer TV. It has a symptom of 7 times blinking LED after the power shuts down showing orange in the media receiver. I had given the TV to the local pioneer Srvs center and they said that it is the problem with the Y-SUS board. Since they do not have them in stock, I took the TV back. Now when I turned on, the symptom is after a few seconds the TV shuts down with 3 blinking Blue LED. When I asked the Srvs center they said, since the the buffer boards have been disconnected , it needs to be reprogrammed. Is it true what they are saying. I am an engineer myself, what should I check now. I am expecting a new Y-sus board soon.

I have received the Y-SUS board for PIONEER PDP 436 PG and installed it. The observation are as follows:
a) In the display unit - The blue LED stays lit for a few second and starts flashing at an interval of 3 blinks, pause and then starts continuing 3 blinks

b) In the media receiver, initially it is on standby, when the power thru remote is switched on, the Blue LED is lit fora few seconds and goes to a standby mode.
I will appreciate for your help in this regard.
Does the media receiver requires reset? If yes, how does one do it?

Long due update, the set was repaired by replacing the main board still alive till this day under practically 24/7 use.
