    Pioneer PDP-507XD 7 Blue Blink Help ?

Ahh got this awesome 50" Pioneer Pure Vision 507 (7th Gen) Plasma. The fault here is the Tv will start, relays click Vs + Va comes up, the Panel primes up and glows like it normally would on a full black image. However no image is being written to the display the control board is not sending any sigals to the Sus boards.

After a few seconds of this the Tv shuts off with 7 blue blinks probably because its detected something is not working properly. Any suggestions before I start going into further diagnoses, ive already reseated all the ribbon cables etc nothing helped, ive also checked most of the voltages regulators they seem fine before it goes into shutdown. Im guessing the Tcon or Mobo is at fault here. Cant find anything on this error apart from its a 3PIN Serial Connection Fault doesn't say much after that. Let me know what you think. Cheers

Yes sorry forgot to add this, the Psu (Sanken) has an alarm Led which if it detects a voltage like that isnt present will cut off and flash the alarm Led on it. Also the Tv has an alarm (Red Led Flash) if a voltage rail is not present. But this is blue and not red and all voltages from Psu are stable and in spec until shutdown.

It has to see the correct signal from the media box..disconnect all cabling and reconnect.

This unit does not need a media receiver no do any other 7th Gen Pioneers.

              Use Imgur

If you have a scope you can check the drive signals. You may have priming but no SUS.

If not ERC bulk voltage may be sufficient

All my sus voltages are correct Really stuck on this one, still cant find any lead on where to start checking on this error. Also to mention before it shuts down the panel (which is at minimal black) begins to flicker then it cuts out. Any ideas ?

Beginning to think Ydrive is at fault, as with Ybuffer connection removed from Y to the buffers the screen still lights up same brightness but shutsdown with 3 Red blinks. This uses and Ipm so possibly that is shot so going to start checking other voltages.

Ive also noticed that the Ydrive Ipm does not buzz nearly as much as Xdrive, put it away now but will check voltages when I next look at this Tv.

IPMs pretty much never fail on Pioneer sets - and if they did you'd have a Vs dead short.

What does 7 blinks correspond to in the manual?

BTW, blue blinks mean "Shut Down", which is usually much less serious than red blinks, which mean "Power Down". Blue blinks are usually caused by main board or low-voltage power supply issues. Red blinks usually panel-side related (Ydrive, Xdrive, address, Vsus, Vadr, etc.)

Hmm im sort of lost on this coming up with random ideas, as all my address voltages etc are fine im going to see if my uncle can bring his scope down and see what signals the Cntrl board is sending see if its triggering a shutdown. 7blinks is either a Ydrive or Cntrl board fault on this, but again all my Y voltages are fine so guessing it likely is Cntrl or mainboard. Cheers Tom.

Are you SURE you're not confusing 7 red with 7 blue? Because the 8G and 9G have different "blue" and "red" codes and I do not think any sustain fault is ever in the "blue" category?

I would bet serial fault over anything else as AFAIK no sustain errors ever trigger a blue shut down.

Blue shut down can even be overridden by serial terminal, it just often won't work as a TV (but you can usually bring up test patterns, etc.) It's basically the TV saying "hmm something doesn't feel right but it's not urgent - I'd better get around to turning myself off but no worries mate"

Red shutdown actually directly cuts the relay on the power board, it's like the controller going "oh shit!"
