    Philips 42PF5521D/10 Screen

    Hello,
Currently the on/off led displays - 1 slow green flash, 2 fast green flashes which I believe reading through the forum is a PSU fault and is generally down to SMD capacitor C2508 requiring replacement.

However the the screen has got a noticeable scratch and my request for help is :-
Has anyone successfully polished out or minimised scratches on the screen and if so I would very much like to know your method(s)
    Regards

C2508 replaced and the set now up and running.
Still interested to know if anyone has a successful method of reducing the appearance of a deep scratch.
    Thanks

Plasma front protection-glass (Have to stop myself calling 'em implosion-glass) are usually coated both sides with a thick plastic film.

On an old 50" LG some time ago, I removed the outer film from the glass itself, but this does cause certain safety issues should the glass be broken.....

As to the issue with your set, it can be lessened by the use of Brasso and then after cleaning well, a mix of oil and wax carefully applied and polished out will minimise it further.

Awesome How ever I really do urge you to replace the primary transistors on that Psu and all the Smd lytic caps. Seen the transistors explode and was a nightmare to flipping repair the board.

Alastair , does this also apply for the 2010/2011 Panasonic models? I got a Panasonic where the coating has been damaged. How did you remove the coating?

Possibly newer Pdps (2010-2014) the screen on the front is actually the PDP glass with a layer over it. What Tv is yours ?

Hmm , think so to. Its a sort of coating.

I use a 42PZ80EA for testing purposes. Bought it for repair but after repair the glass hit the backside of another tv. ( cooling block from power supply ). And it left some cuts in the coating.

PZ80 have a separate front glass which you can remove I have also had to clean the 42" glass Think they didnt add enough foam to seal the edges which lets dust fall in.

The cuts were to deep to successfully remove. Tried brasso, vaseline, even used uPVC cleaner which is very mildly abrasive.
These may work on minor scratches but didn't work for me.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                          by smic717394
                          Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

                          by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Vizio TV M50-C1 reboot cycle and static on screen
                          by spice_disc
I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...

ipad pro 9.7" blew a SMD component while replacing the screen 🤦‍♂️
                          by ipatch
i have an ipad pro 9.7" (1st gen) A1674 where i replaced the screen, but never attached the screen to the frame/chassis (glued down) due to the ipad being previously dropped so the new screen would never fit in the frame properly. so i need flex/bend the chassis to eventually fix the new screen in properly. so i temporarily just applied blue tape around the edges of the screen to keep it in place. when watching videos with the ipad the screen started flicker, so i though maybe the new quasi cheap amz screen i purchased was going out. so i disconnected then reconnected with power still on,...
