    Insignia NS-LDVD26Q-10A Tuner issue

guy brings in the Insignia NS-LDVD26Q-10A and tells me that the coaxial input is loose and that he has to wiggle to a certain position to make the thing work. The lead of the input was lifting the entire joint off the board on the back side causing the connectivity issue. So I bridge it to the next joint, and put solder near the base of the threaded area of the coax input so it won't be able to wiggle anymore and my new solder joint won't break from wiggling.
1st channel scan I get 0 channels. Scan 2 with the antenna outside I get 12 channels detected. However only 4 or 5 have good reception.
Guy takes his tv home does a scan and says he gets less channels than he used to and the quality is much worst on all of them than before when the piece wiggled. I did a channel scan with a vizio in the same spot, and it picked up 20 channels and played them all no problem.
I took a look at my joint again today, everything looks good, I bridged it to the proper next pin. I have no idea what could be causing this issue.
anyone encounter something similar in the past?
I have not idea what to do aside from replacing the main board next.

Acer Helios 500 (PH517-51) - unexpected reboots when laptop is warm (cold solder joint issue?)
    by Mirenia
    Hi everyone,

got an Acer Helios 500 Laptop (PH517-51) for diagnosing with a strange issue:

The laptop runs for a while (1-2 hours, sometimes less) and then suddenly shuts completely off, like someone pulled the power cord and restarts immediately after on its own.
If this happened once, then the laptop only runs for a few minutes until restart.
This happens regardless while staying in windows or uefi or in a linux environment.

At first I thought of a normal overheating issue, but as I monitored temps with HWInfo64, nothing seems very hot.

Insignia NS-LCD019-09 issue: Power light turns blue for 3 seconds, the flashes red before going solid read again
    by cajoeg
Hello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.

The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV...

    Insignia NS-32L430A11 backlight issue
    by arnard
I have a weird backlight issue on the above Insignia Plasma that I am coming up empty on researching.

The display is darker on the left than on the right side of the screen. It uses 4 U shaped plasma tubes. I have had it apart deep enough to tell you that the tubes are bright as they should be at the electrode ends but dim as they get to and go around the bend.

Since it is all 4 tubes it seems like it would be an inverter/backlight board but obviously can't be a blown up component as it does still somewhat work. I'm thinking low voltage but no idea where to go beyond...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
    by rounin
    Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

    🛠 Original Issue
    The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
    by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...
