    17PW25-4 Mod To 17PW26-4

Recently, I repaired a 17PW25-4 Psu (heap of trash) two days later after giving the Tv back to the customer it blew up again this time the 24v diodes blew killing the primary switching section.

So I decided to see if I could mod a 17PW26-4 (better designed Psu) to replace the 17PW25-4. After reading the schematic for this particular 17PW25-4 (note all of them are different you must make sure you find the schematic for your exact one!) I took a list of the voltages at each pins and printed it off for the 17PW25 used in this Tv.

I then plugged the 17PW26-4 into mains and took its voltages on the connector, these will run the voltage rails with out the motherboard connected btw so you can take voltage readings. After taking all the voltages of the 17PW26 I compared it to the 17PW25 Psu. The voltages used are the same but the wires are in different places found that I needed to change 6 wires in total.

So after re-pinning the connector so that the correct voltages are in place, plugging the Tv in it works whoooo Been testing it for at least 14 hours turning it on and off working great

I have recapped the 17PW26-4 with good caps and should be a solid unit now at least the Tv works and will last longer than the hideous 17PW25. Overall just goes to show that you can interchange these units just need to mod the connector a little so you dont blow stuff up haha ohhh Vestel

Hello Tom and every tech brains here

How is going great. I have a problem with one of this vestel crappy psu and though am not really that good tech of a guy but i really need solution to this.

My tv keeps flashing blue led light and will not start. Sometimes when you up plug it and plug back in 2 or 3 times, the blue led will now steady (standby mod) and it will now power on. This have been going on for about 3 months and it pisses me off to sit and wait for your tv to take like 20 - 30 mins to com on.

However, for about three days now, the set is not coming on again no matter how long a wait and plug and unplug, it doesn't just come on. Have taken it to two repair shops, one said is the main board (picture board) the other said it is the power board. Don't which to follow as both are costly to repay.

I opened and check the power board and found out it is 17pw25-4 and i have read a lot of negative threads on that board. Their is nothing like blown diodes or capacitors or resistors their and am puzzled.

What should i do? I have attached the picture of it to this post.

Hi Reece I could do with doing this conversion. Did you keep any notes of which wires you changed around?
