Sony kdl 37s5500 very slow to turn on

    Sony 37s5500

    press power light turns green
Picture comes on about 13 secs later.
seems a bit slow to me ?
Not sure as not had one of these sets before.
Other than taking about 13 secs for picutre to show
from power light going green all is well.
even when running then placed in standy still same.

Does the backlight show with image or not ? I had the 40" version with a shorted Tcon causing it to cut out.

Is it not a setting in the menu? For example "dont display sony logo when tv turns on" .

Just a guess. But 13secs is pretty long time for a tv to start. You dont see a blinking startup led?
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

I need help with my friend Sony GDM-FW900 24” CRT
              by matthewmcconaughey
Hello, Badcaps is my last resort. I am the first owner of the monitor. I reached almost every repair store in my area, but no one even wanted to hear about troubleshooting an old CRT monitor. At this point, I have been trying to figure it out by myself, but I have no idea where to start or look for.

I wish to know how to think and locate a failing component. I will put all my efforts to learn and contribute.
              1. It started with a bright and greenish picture upon starting a cold monitor.
              2. About 2 years ago, only on the cold boot, the screen started to occasionally flash with

Sony Vaio does not turn on, overheats
              by Abel Bejan
              Hello,
I am quite noob in advanced electronics, however I'm trying to fix a Sony Vaio PCG-71211M laptop mainly because I love old hardware. I don't want to send it to a technician because this computer is not important for me, I want to fix it as a hobby.
Shortly, this laptop does not display any video output when turned on, no POST, nothing. The keyboard leds are on and I can actually turn Num Locks on and off. Sometimes the laptop turns itself off straight away, sometimes, mostly after some attempts, the laptops enters a loop in which the cpu fan spins very aggressively and the CPU,...

Sony OLED XR-77A80J - 5 Flashes But Turn On After Hard Reset
              by odie34
I am a hobbyist (not a professional) so please be gentle...

I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)

I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. The set appeared to be working normally, but it shut down after about 15 seconds,...
