Samsung LN-T4069 No video, Sound OK, backlights Working.
A little background information first. Last year I had a Samsung LN-T52xx TV that had the same symptoms, All voltages were good. No video, backlights worked, and sound was ok. Budm, Tom66, and a few others concurred that the problem is either the T-conn or the Main Board. I decided to go with the T-conn as the board to replace. After replacing the T-conn, The TV worked perfectly. It's been 10 months and still working. Great job by Budm , Tom66 and a few others on the forum.
Now, the current problem. This 40 inch Samsung started with a similar problem. Video would disappear, sound OK and backlights working. It would be very intermittent. One day it works ok and next day no video. Finally, the frequency became shorter and shorter and then NO video any time TV was turned on, sound OK, backlights working. Just before the video went blank for good, and not come back on, the video would flicker every two seconds. It did this for a couple of days, then completely stopped producing a video.
I ordered a T-conn. Installed it, and the TV worked on power on. I reassembled the TV. My wife used it that night, after a half hour of being on, No video, sound OK and backlights working. I reinstalled my original T-conn, it would not work on power on, no video, sound OK and backlights worked. I assumed I got a bad T-conn as a replacement.
Ordered another T-conn, installed but this time I did not reassemble TV. Power on, good video. I waited. Twenty minutes later, video began to flicker every half second. Then the video came back, twenty more minutes, video went blank, sound OK, backlights ok.
Now I'm questioning whether the T-conn is really bad. One thing I noticed while I was doing the testing, the metal cover over the Main Board was extremely hot to the touch, not just warm. Also, there is the FRC board mounted above the Main Board. Could that be a possibility?
Sorry to have rambled, but I think the complete story needed to be told. I ordered a Main Board during the interim and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
