Vizio GV42L HDTV blows fuses won't come on

    Hi,
I've never repaired a TV before and I'm pretty new to trying to fix electronics, though I can solder into a PCB and I can use a multimeter.

I have a Vizio GV42L HDTV -- its an LCD flat screen. Its totally dead. I took it apart and the fuse was blown, so I replaced it. I didn't see anything else obviously wrong with the power board. When I plugged it bag in, I heard a variety of snapping-popping sounds without any signs of life from the TV. Taking it apart again, the fuse is blown but again no other obvious pathology on the power board.

I attached some pics of the power board. What should I do next to figure out what is going wrong?

    Thanks,
    Grant

You need to start testing the power devices such as bridge rectifier, POWER MOSFETs, ETC. You have shorted out circuit some where on the board.
I do not know how much of the component level troubleshooting you want to go, the new board is about $40.

Oh, that's a much better price than I was finding!

If I did want to test said components, is there a thread or guide you could recommend that would explain what they look like and how to test them?

Power supply for main amp blows fuses after replacing filter caps.
        by acedogblast
Hello I have a Marantz sr5012 that I have been repairing. After I have replaced the 2 main filter caps the 2 fuses for the power amplifier blows. The original capacitors are ELNA LAO 10,000uF 71V and the replacements are Nichicon LKS 10,000uF 80V.
I assume a short circuit connection has occurred so I set my multimeter to measure ohms across the 2 fuse connections and both read 55 Kilo-ohms so I assume that is ok.

I am certain that I do not have any bridges on my soldering and after probing around I do find a temporary 0 ohm reading when probing across the positive and negative...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

        Assuming...

        17PW15-8 blows fuses after lightning
        by Sraros
        Hello,
I picked this PSU 17PW15-8 from a friend's TV with a burnt fuse, after some days of rain and lightning strikes. The TV was on standby when it happened.
With new fuses it burns them as well. I checked bridge rectifier, all the TO220 components, diodes and basic caps, replaced IC806 SMPS, and FETS driving the big transformer. I also isolated the secondary circuit by cutting the rails of the FETs to the primary coils. I don't know even know if that makes sense, but I did in hopes to isolate the problem.
Any ideas what to look for?...
