    Sharp LC-60E78UN

Television arrived "dead". No picture, No sound, after plugging in and without hitting the power button the set will attempt to come on Green Power LED (solid on). Approx. every 15 seconds the power relay would cycle until the third time. After the third instance the POWER and OPC LEDs will flash, followed by the POWER LED flashing twice more (OPC/Power once - Power Twice more for a total of 3 POWER and 1 OPC).

I tried the forced resets - called SHARP consumer assistance to confirm - no results. They would not convey any assistance for the Flashing Code.

Backlighting does NOT seem to even try to come on.

I tried unplugging the EL Backlight modules to see if the OPC/POWER flashing failure would change with no luck.

Researching the WEB (including this site) indicated a POWER BOARD as a likely failure (and common). I purchased a rebuilt PS board and the set exhibits the exact same failure.

Can anyone assist? I don't know if this is a MAIN BOARD, Back Light board, T-Con, etc.... or a bad panel. It was working fine before it failed.

I downloaded a service manual I found on the WEB but it is virtually useless.

I don't want to "TRASH" a 60", 4 year old, LCD set before at least giving it one last shot.

    THX in advance.

You say it arrived? Any indication that it was dropped? That flashes associated with backlight failure. If the panel was having a problem you would get a 2-5 flash. You could have a broken CCFL behind the screen or ones that have failed. Are you getting any indication of backlight on off the pin on the power supply this voltage will either go high or go low upon power up

Freakaftr8: I have not checked the Pin on the PS as I'm not sure which it is. Any service information I found for this set is very limited - almost useless. Do you know which pin to check? There is no indication it was dropped. Actually it belongs to an old time customer of mine that had it hung on the wall when it failed, so I doubt it dropped. There is NO ATTEMPT at all that I can see for the CCFL to come on........no flash, no partial. I tried unplugging one side at a time also. No difference, same issue. Whatever the issue is it appears to not let the set "power on" as there is no sound either. Is there anything I should look for on the CCFL driver boards? THX in advance. I appreciate the feedback. I knew the panel failure was a 2-5 so that's encouraging but a CCFL failure (lamps) isn't promising....

Well the first.thing I normally check is to make sure you are getting the proper voltages. Do yiu have a pin going from ps to mainboard labeled ps_on or backlight on?

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
          by PantherDave
          Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Elitebooks (820, 840 etc. all gens) and those continuously flashing Power LED + flashing CapsLock LED
          by STKR123
As the Elitebooks (820, 840 all gens) only show flashing Power LED and flashing CapsLock (continuously) + a very soft "ticking" noise near the DC Jack,
I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.

As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.

There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,...

          Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue
          by GLISIT
          Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Sharp LC-C4655U Flashing OPC and Power lights.
          by berrmich
I have the above TV. Black screen. Power blinks 2 times. OPC blinks once. Plug in with channeldown/volup. Powers up with solid green power but no light. I removed, cleaned and tightened the screwed on the inverters. I tested plug coming from the power supply to the inverter board when unplugged. INV12V shows 7.4 V DC. INV60V shows 0.1 or something like that. After plugging in the cable I don't get meaningful voltage from either one. (I measured after booting the TV with channeldown/volup.)

Is this a bad power supply? Or am I measuring something wrong.
