    Wharefdale LCD37F1080P - Picture fading

I cannot pin this fault down. When switched on at the mains the blue light comes on for about 2 seconds, goes off for about 0.5 sec and comes back on and stays on. This may be normal but I'm not sure.
Using the remote and pressing “power on” brings the set to life after a brief delay.

Most of the time the picture starts off fine, then at some point looks as though it's going through frame collapse (similar to the old TV sets) then the picture darkens until it can no longer be seen. There is no change in backlight intensity. (Pic1, Pic2, Pic3)

Switching off and back on with the remote returns the picture to normal.
It may occur when first switched on and the set is cold or it may operate as normal for 20 mins or more.

I have tried measuring the voltages when the problem occurs but the picture tends to correct itself before I have read more than a few pins.

Percussive maintenance does not bring the problem on but has cleared it on one or two occasions.
    Regards

This is possibly a panel fault.
Take the set down to the tabs, possibly the ones on the side.
With the TV on press on the tabs and see if the picture comes back.

      Hello Hami,
Thanks for your reply. There are no Tabs on the side but putting pressure on the TCON cables at the top, the tcon being hidden behind the metal plate that the circuit boards are attached to, does not appear to have any affect.
      Thanks

Have you taken the tv down to the panel?

So you can see the tabs like in this photo?

          Hello Hamie,
No I haven't taken it down to this level yet but have managed to put some pressure on the cables from the TCON to the panel. The problem is where the Tcon is mounted as can be seen in the picture. 4 of 6 which is below the metal panel all the other circuit boards are mounted.
However if need be then I can strip it down, however I would be interested in other opinions if available before so doing.
          Many thanks

I'll put it to one side for a day or two since I have another power supply to repair. Will post progress once I get back to it.
Thanks to you both for your advice.

Stripped it down for parts. May come in useful at a later date.

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
                  by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                  Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                  First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
                  by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                  Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

                  Sony KDL-65W855C mirrored, fading picture
                  by mrsith
                  Hi, me again.

Grabbed that Sony with 6 blinking lights. Easy job, especially that I had LED set. Replaced them, upon reinstalling everything and doing test I was shocked. The picture is upside down and mirrored. There is some fading effect on one side (4th TV in a row with backlight problem that turned out to have this issue as well...), and there are 2 black vertical bars. Touching side and bottom tabs doesn't produce any change at all.
The LEDs were taken from kdl-x857c, basicay same model. I transferred screen to its chassis to save time, but just in case of any incompatibility...

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
                  by TR103
                  Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                  - sound and backlight, but no picture
                  - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                  - it keeps rebooting
                  - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                  - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Need someone to look picture to say if this is normal or not [Uploaded in post]
                  by Omron
Guys I have set top box which has no power on in specific case. When I insert antenna plug which has 12V on it because of dB gain device on top of antenna, device if its turned off, it will not turn on.
After I need to open the case and short + and - on ABS10 chip and after that device will turn on, without antenna plugged in, after its turned on I can plug in antenna and it will work fine, but I notice there is some extra heat inside the unit.

Is this chip okay? Rectifier bridge ABS10 JQC I don't think there should be connection like additional diode between plus and minus...
