    Luxor Lux-19-914-cob

Hi All, I have a prob with the screen, will try and get a couple of pictures up if i can. When i turn on i get only a third of the picture, the middle part has lines running down and right hand end is just blank. If it is left switched on for half an hour really hot, then turned off and back on i get full screen. I did reseat the ribbon cable and it was ok for about two minutes.
When you do get a full picture, there is a flickering around the right hand end and near the middle.
I really appreciate you guys, as you allways come up trumps for us oldies, i am not a tv engineer and x electrician but love to have a go at fixing things, many thanks in advance for helping an old fella out.

    Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
    by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

Asus UX501J - EC (IT8585VG) burnt by broken charging port middle pin
    by coni
    Hello.
I'm trying to repair an ASUS ZenBook Pro UX501J and I need a little help. The story is like this:
The charging port broke and +19v touched the middle pin, therefore the super IO chip now has a hole in the middle (so obviously I will replace it, it is IT8585VG), but there is also a nearby resistor burnt and I don't know it's original value. Here is a picture attached with the resistor (the one circled with red), anyone knows how can I track down its value? It seems to be connected between the middle pin and ground, so its value is important, I think.
    Thank you....

Could HP middle pin cause damage to SOC?
    by liquidzorch
Hello. I am about to get my new motherboard for a damaged starwars edition HP laptop (15 an001). The original motherboad got a short on 3.5v line, I traced it to the SOC (processor) and with the price of a new reballed i5 processor, it was better to just buy another board.

I still don't know why it would fail all of a sudden, I had just paced it down, I was watching a video, it kept playing then a second after I placed it down it shut off.

Now I am wondering if I should buy a new power supply, maybe there is a short between the middle pin and 19v line that occured...

SMEG induction cooker error EA on both left hand side cooktops
    by Gjackson
    Hi all,

I have a SMEG cooktop with a EGO 72.08041.002 power board. The two left hand side cooktops started to slowly fail, sometimes stopping with an EA error (Power board failure according to the manual) after a couple minutes boiling some water and eventually they completely failed and now get an EA error on both of them at all times. Visual inspection of the board went over ok, I checked the IGBT's and rectifiers and they seem fine, what should I look at next as this is the first time I'm fixing an induction cooker, I'm suspecting capacitors in this case, Which ones should I look...
