    Panasonic Buffer IC changing

The problem has been the way that they are glued on with silicone that seeps under the IC body and legs , and when you try to remove the ICs the silicone pulls up the pads . so here is the way I have found that works for me . I first remove as much silicone from the IC as I can, I then put a thick layer off sili-kill over the legs and leave for 30mins, then with a wooden tooth pick I work the silicone remover between the ICs legs and leave for another 30mins. clean of the remover with a paper wipe, then wash the IC down with nail polish remover using tooth brush around the legs. Turn the board over, you will see small holes to the back of the IC work some of the silicone remover into the holes and leave for 30mins, I then using a good flux run a low melt solder over all the pins with a soldering iron , flux again and with hot air I heat the IC when you see the solder melt using a pick I lift each corner a little, just until I can see the IC is coming away without force. Clean up the pads and your ready to fit your new IC. see photos as to how it works and what I use, I hope you can make it work for you

Nice try! I tried it but it didn't work for me , removing the silicone was not that hard but removing the chip was.......
Its only possible if you have the right equipment and most buffers don't cost much!

I think its worth it if you have the time and want to save some money! thx for the info!

When you are looking at replacing SN boards that are costing over £100 and are hard to find you may change your mind Panasonic IC chips are less then £6 from China
