LG 60PK250 No Picture has sound. But sometimes will turn on with picture(rarely)

Hello,

I have an lg 60pk250 was combing the forums for info on how to fix the no picture but has sound issue. I found that it seemed to be a YSUS board issue based on forums so I replaced it. Turned it on, still no picture, in frustration I turned tv off/on a bunch of times and once it came on WITH picture =) Turned off and back on, no picture again any ideas what my next move should be? Im guessing it was never my YSUS and is something else all together to be intermittent in nature. Thanks for any help is much appreciated on getting this giant paper weight back to LIFE!

Hi. Atomic....

I've got same problem with same set. difference is, I never get a picture or even any kind of light from panel. I've read other peoples [posts with similar problems on a variation of this 60pkxx pvxx etc and learned NOT to go throwing replacement boards at this...

Can anyone give me sound advice, if they've encountered the same problem and some good troubleshooting.... I'm getting good voltages on the port going out on the left (top) side... Nothing on the right side port on PSU.

I forget now which is called which(Y-SUS Z-SUS etc etc), but it may be the reason, and simply replacing a few components on the PSU or other boards could get me up and running....

What you're saying doesn't make sense, both those connectors are directly linked, so if you have vs and va voltages on one, you should have both on the other.

Btw I'm seeing a lot of missing screws, you can damage your sustain boards running them with the grounding screws removed.

Thanks for reply Hamie. I have basically removed the screws to inspect the underside of some boards ( cracked solder joints etc). I seen the both sides were linked, but it does show voltage on the right side (for a few milliseconds) then it drops I've tried the PSU with both connectors removed, does that mean the fault is with the PSU itself? I'm not an engineer(per-say), but I'm decent at soldering and following instructions...

Would love to get this sorted for as cheap as possible....

Thanks for all help so far... if anyone has any likely issues that I could test, fell free..

Put your meter in ohm range and test these 3 wirewound resistors. You can measure them in circuit and should all read 22ohm, if any are OL then changing all 3 should fix the board.

Hovever if any are short (ie: much lower than 22ohm) you'll need to change all 3 and the FET below them.

Got that pic for you I'll not get the change to test the resistance until later.

The voltages on the label match the ones measured on DMM.

P.S. Can you explain to me what the FET below is??? Sorry if I'm being idiotic, I'm still learning, day by day.

im sure hamie means the one just under the right white resistor in his picture, theres a black fet im sure thats the one that will need changing if your not sure get the part number from it.

Cheers Vince.... just needed clarification.... As Hamie guessed... The measurements are way below 22..... 11.2 was all I got, so It's plan B

remove them and retest all three to see if any are open circuit etc and note readings you take as when these fail they usually go open circuit OL on your meter

Woah, let's back up a bit.

What are the value of the resistors, obviously I'm going form memory, for example if they say:

10R 5W then they are 10ohm 5 watt.
If they are 22R 5W they are 22ohm 5watt.

Post a picture of the table I asked for earlier before changing out parts.

yes i did mean remove to retest if you wasnt sure but if they measure ok in circuit thats fine and if any was blown the fet mentioned was the one on the right etc but no need to change if they test ok etc

I'll look at the values on them, to see if it corresponds with reading.... I'm kinda new to this, in some ways, I appreciate the patience....

The reading I'm getting from resistors is what is labelled RWS-5W 10R0JSMT

So... is it likely that the FET is giving problem?
