    Vizio L42HDTV10A board failure troubleshooting

    Hello!

I have a Vizio L42HDTV10A that will not turn on when the power button is pressed (on the unit and/or via the remote). The Vizio logo does not turn amber when the television is plugged in.

At first glance, this seems to indicate an issue with the power supply board, however I am getting 5V at the 5vSB output to the main board. That said, I am getting 0V readings for the 12V and 24V outputs on the power supply board which makes me think there is an issue on the main board (ie. the power supply board is not getting the activation from the main board). There is no visual indication of any damaged components on the power supply board. Suggestions?

At this point, I am fine with just replacing the entire board that is defective rather than replacing components. Assuming I get the correct replacement board, I am planning on taking a closer look at the failed board and work on it at the component level (just cuz its fun to fix things).

How about pictures of the whole backside of the TV and the boards?
There are more than one versions of this model:

Did you check the fuses and Voltage regulators on the board?
It does sound like the main board problem.
