possible simple problem with LED Projector.

ok guys bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1817054607...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT 2 weeks ago and recieved it last wednesday. I had it not 25 minutes when it started failing.

I turned it to the WiFi source of the projector which just comes up like HDMI 1 etc and it booted up the onboard android system where i connected wifi to my network etc.

i downloaded showbox to test out streaming quality etc and about 15 minutes into the movie it crashed and screen went green and made a realy loud buzzing noise through the projectors built in speaker system. i thought it was the projector that crashed but could still pull up the menu, sources and volume control etc. i switched to another source then back to wifi and screen was still green and buzzing continued.

I just switched it off and contacted seller where i have had no response as of yet almost 1 week later. the day in question i switched it off for a few hours and switched back on and turned to Wifi source and was atleast this time given the shiny android logo and it booted up but just after android home screen displayed the screen went black and "No Signal" started roaming about the screen. i have shut down and restarted up several times since last week and keep checking to make sure its still not functioning which it isnt.

anyone have any ideas before i need to pay out more money to have this sent back.

projector cost £228 + i had to pay DHL customs charge of £13 when tv was delivered.

About the fleaBay transaction, don't wait for a response anymore, open up a case against the seller. If you go a certain period without opening a case you're out of luck. Open a case and the seller will be all kinds of friendly and accommodating. You shouldn't have to pay return fees if the item is broken or not as described. Very likely the seller will simply send you a new one or refund you entirely.

Can't help you troubleshooting technically though.

I have seen a teardown of one of these projectors before. I hope you didn't actually pay £228 for it, as that is way too much to pay. They will not meet any of the specifications and are usually based on a small VGA resolution LCD projecting through a small LED array. Picture quality and contrast ratio are poor.

While you can, I would send it back and get a refund.

unfortunatly Tom yes i paid the £228 for it then £13 to delivery guy.. and correct a few things didnt add up when i recieved it they have on ad that it is full HD 1080p but how can that be if it is advertised as 1280*800 but the actual resolution is only 800x480... also 4500 lumens as advertised which is alot lower. during the day you can hardly make out that the projector is switched on and i have an old Dell 1100mp projector which is the same brightness and that is only 1100 lumens, now if im correct is LED not supposed to be alot brighter and they say they are using a 200 watt LED bulb.. i will open a dispute and see what happens.

Right, it might accept a 1080p input but it will scale it down to the 800x480 panel inside. Not even vaguely HD resolution. The LCD panel loses about 3/4 of the light passing through, so they could be saying the projector has a 4500 lm array - less actually delivered. But more likely, it's just an outright lie. It won't last very long either - as the LCD is massively overheated by dumping all this light, it's quite common for burn marks to appear on the image after some time.

There is no such thing as a cheap, quality projector -- unless it's one you fix, of course! Projectors involve complex, expensive optics combined with extremely high brightness light sources, and the only technology that's half decent at producing an image, DLP & DMD by Texas Instruments, is pretty expensive to manufacture. Even the best projector though will not beat the image brightness or overall contrast of a good plasma TV.

A 4,500 lumen LED bulb should appear as roughly the same brightness as a 4,500 lumen xenon or HID bulb. Being LED does not make it any brighter, just more efficient (usually.) 200W LED bulb my arse, that's crazy. That's nearly equivalent to a 2kW HID bulb and would be absurdly bright. (Most projectors use 90-150W HID bulbs.)
