I have a Sony KDL55EX720 TV I am having a issue with. I have worked on TVs in the past but that was over 20 years ago so I am relearning them. This TV will start up fine and work for about 5 minutes. Then it shuts itself off and the red light blinks 10 times. I did a search here but all I could find was 5 blinks. I did find a link to the service manual and it pointed to the T-CON board and a issue with the emitter. My question is does this sound like a good place to start and will it be worth putting money in it. Also does anyone know a seller of these boards that takes a P.O. ? I work in a school and all I have access to is P.O. purchases. Is there anything else I should check?

Re: Sony KDL55EX720 TV
The service manual troubleshootin flow chart for 10-blink code says it is T-CON or HEM2 board. Try disconnecting either one of them one at a time to see if the error code goes away.Never stop learning

Re: Sony KDL55EX720 TV
Thanks folks. I looked at the caps and saw no bulging or leaking. I may have to bring in my cap meter from home to test them. I got to looking at the service manual and tried to reseat the T-CON plugs and it had no change. I will try the HEM2 board next. I am not at work today so I will try in a few days.Comment

1. Running power board as stand alone:
TCON_12V =~ 12.6V
EVDD V On Max 24V= 19V.

by GoodCapDudeHi everyone. First post on Badcaps!
I am trying to fix a Sony 940E from 2017 that either starts normally (and works perfectly until turned off) or goes straight to the 6 blinks error code without showing anything on the screen. It is frustrating to know that it can still work perfectly but is barely usable because of the difficulty starting it up. I am willing to try to short the BL_ERR but I would like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone have a view on this? Thanks a lot.... -
by AK_777Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.
Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and... -
by jchonHi I'm new to trying to repair TVs, but I saw a broken OLED offered for a reasonable price and thought I'd try my hand at it.
I found the service manual, which was critical to know where to probe.

With it I was able to determine that my DKA board was bad, when P_ON#1/2 gets enabled REG_12 on the DKA board collapses. I'm assuming one of the downstream regulators has a short, but I couldn't work out which rail/component and replaced the DKA board entirely.
Unfortunately the 5-blinks... -
by NicktronicHi all,
I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?
Any Sony experts out there that can help??... - Loading...
