Just from saying the word inverted makes me think .oO(Gamma IC) though usually see them "lighter" washed out

Gonna put a bet on a bad panel. Or bad LEDs.

if this set was mine and a tcon was cheap i would probably try one to rule it out you can always re sell it if it does not solve the issue.

It just looks like colours are distorted - not dim or lack of brightness.
It could be panel or t-con.
Maybe main IF the settings are wrong (cont/bright/etc) -- but I really doubt it.
Test pattersn can be found in service menu, so try them.

Having seen this on lots of other sets tho it's usually panel, only t-con on the few with AS15 gamma ICs

Thats just it the test patterns dont show if i press right tp choose test pattern it will flash up and off really quick cant acess any other patterns and the whole digital tv picture is dark like inverted colours

Also could it be water damage corrosion on the main panel ic boards ?

                                  update

ive stripped down the main screen to driver boards
i found liuid damage and a burned flex ribbon from tcon

so i think the tcon is short hence gamma contrast problem
im not sure though any thoughts

as i get the full characters and colours on the service menu does this mean that if i replace the tcon the screen will actually function perfectly

                                    Liquid damage = Bad panel

Sorry, but it's dead. Liquid damage is basically terminal in 99.5% of LCD panel cases.
Sometimes, if the damage is VERY light, like only a few contacts, it can be repaired. But that is the exception rather than the rule.

                                    Strip it, trash the panel.

This is why I got out of the biz.... too much shit like this. Plasmas didn't used to die like this from a drop of water. Hah.

Was watching this set, and suddenly it went dark. Picture is still visible, just very dark. Tried checking all settings, adjusting brightness to 100% no change. Reset through menus, no change.
bought used boards from ebay (power and input boards) replaced with same results, changing brightness does seem to have a slight affect.. but not to normal visibility of picture.

                                        Hi all

While I have quite a decent background in electrical & electronic troubleshooting & repairs, this is my first time stripping down an LCD TV for repair.... I have inherited a 3yr old Panasonic LCD which has a picture, but it is quite dark (too dark to be watchable - but still quite easy to see; I didnt need a torch to see it).

I started by checking and trying to adjust all of the picture and backlighting levels, but that made little to no difference. I also did a factory reset.

From there I envisaged that the backlighting wasn't working, however...

I have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...
