Hello, I recently had a shortage/surge in my house due to a screw that scrapped off the rubber coating, and the electricity was grounding back into the stove. So if anything metal touched the surface of the stove, and connected the two burners, there was a huge ball of plasma that would form, and melt whatever piece of metal that was completing the circuit. That issue has been fixed, but it left me with a blown out TV. I took the back panel off, tested voltages all over the place, they all looked good, but I got another power supply board just to make sure. That board came in today, but the problem still persisted. It clicks two times back to back, and then a third click about a second after. Now, I disconnected the cable that connects the power supply board to the main board, and the TV hums like it did when it was working, and the screen lights up but nothing appears. Upon reconnecting the cable, it clocks three times, stops humming, and the screen goes black. So is this an issue with the main board, since the TV stops virtually all operation when the cable is connected to it? Both the sustain boards are working correctly I should have added earlier.

Re: Possible LG 42PJ350 Main Board Problem?
Look at your control board. (Small board below the power supply)
There should be 2 holes marked ext_auto_gen
Connected the 2 holes with a piece of wire.
Disconnect the LVDS going to the mainboard.
Start up the TV and if you get test patterns on screen you need a new mainboard.

Yep. Test pattern. Sigh... Spend $40.00 on a new power supply board, thinking that was the problem. Wish I had joined this forum earlier. Thanks for the help though!Last edited by pilotguy251; 05-09-2015, 06:46 PM.

Re: Possible LG 42PJ350 Main Board Problem?
You should be able to return it, lots of eBay sellers have return policy's (assuming that's where you bought the powersupply)
Even if they don't you should have no problem reselling the power supply for this set as they break down all the time.
Or if it's a TV you're keeping, keep a hold of the PSB, because you'll probably need it sometime in the future.
