Hi. I have a two year old LG TV [1] that I used a few hours a day.
Last week while playing a videogame, the TV made a clicking sound and shut off. I tried to turn it on again but the display was not visible. At the same time I smelled something burning so I disconnected the power cable from the TV. A few hours later I re-connected the power cable but the display still would not turn on.
Yesterday I opened the TV and did a visual inspection on the main boards (front and back side). I could not find any damaged capacitors. However, there were two components that looked suspicious. I don't have any experience with electronics hardware so I'm not sure if this is normal. I can't follow the burning smell because it's been over a week since it failed.
I'm uploading pictures of the power supply board and close up shots of the suspicious components. Note: I was having problems uploading the images to the forums (timed out twice) so I uploaded to imugr instead:

1. white/black component. Brownish substance near both silver connectors.
2. yellow/black component. Yellowish bubbling near on right side of silver connectors.
I found what appears to be the same board on shopjimmy.com. It contains a higher resolution picture of the board:

Current symptoms:
1. I'm able to plug the power into the TV and the RED power light comes on in front of the TV. If I turn on the power button on the TV, the red light blinks three times then stops. The display does not turn on.
2. If I press any buttons on the remote control, the RED LED blinks.
At this point I'm not sure what part of the TV is damaged. Perhaps it's sufficient to just buy a replacement board from shopjimmy? I'm hoping someone can help point me in the right direction.
Thanks for your time.
