Lg smart tv 47ln5700 HELP WITH BAD LEDS.

[ATTACH]110233[/ATTACH]ok so i got this tv and with the help of you fellows i learned that the reason this tv would light up then go black was due to bad leds, so i take it apart and i have 3 rows completely out. Row 3,4,5 are all out and 1 led in top middle. So is there part numbers u have to order from these? Ive never did this before

Ok i figured out the part numbers i need 8 strips
3 of 6916l-1176a
2 of 6916l-1177a
2 of 6916l-1174a
1 of 6916l-1175a

i found 2 sets of them for 24.00 per strip. Which at that rate this will cost me 200 to fix. Plus there 2 sets i couldnt find on ebay. Does anyone know any places to order these?

They may not be all bad. they are wired in series so a single bad led will stop anything in that series from lighting. I had a bad L1 strip and it stopped all 4 strips in its series from lighting.

Well i got 1 led in the top middle out and it dont stop them whole strips from being out?

you cant just remove LED strips and expect the others to power and stay on. one bad led will cause all of them in that series to not light at all. They are in series and the power supply is looking for proper Vf. You are going to have to test the strips individually to find what ones are bad if its not visually bad. I typically use 9V 600mA to test led strips. They are delecate and can blow easy so constant amperage is key. Others use 12v i have seen as well.

LEDs can fail short and open. If they fail short, they do not emit light but the rest of the strip works still. If they fail open then they also do not emit light but also prevent the rest of the strip from working.

To add to the problem.....

You cant buy the LED's anyway--Or the strips that are used....

Best you can do--is grab some from a broken-screen set with similar/same LED strips....

The Makers consider the entire screen assembly as one piece, with no internal parts available separately....

with the proper tools one could repair a bad led strip i assume. I should give it a go.

Well. I have a L1 strip from this same model that i just repaired. It has one bad led on it. I also have another L1 strip that the Ebay seller sent me first that was mangled. If it has a working led on it i could try a transplant and have my self a backup led strip. If it fails, well they were both going in the bin anyways.

IMA kinda lost here. Seems like a lot of new information I have never done any of this but if you guys don't mind I would like to learn it and give it a shot

I've replaced a few LED's on strips... Some are easier than others and some seem damn near impossible!

Some I have done with an iron, others a HA station... Some have required IR as the LED/Strip won't tolerate the HA

Matt, if you have indeed tested that led strips properly and they are actually bad. With that many bad LEDs i'd part the TV out. If you feel you haven't tested the leds properly and need more help doing so post back. But that is a WHOLE lot of leds to be bad all at once. I have never seen that many bad at once.

No I haven't don't any testing LEDs. I never done this before nor know how all I did was kept turning the power on the TV to see what led light where out. This strips are divided in half by right side and left side. How do I go about testing them

mattstolte sometimes if your meter is powerful enough you can set it to diode mode and touch your probes to the contacts of the LED, you may find they light up very dim

There are no contacts on the back of these leds

I remove the LEDS from the strips when I cant see the contacts... I have managed with HA on rare occasions and can do it fine using IR
