Vizio E320VA allegedly gets very loud and shuts down

I go my hands on free Vizio E320VA. Previous owner stated that while watching TV, sound would get louder and then the TV would shut off by itself. I have no idea what they were watching on what input or for how long until this occurs.

I have been "watching" the TV for several hours now and nothing happened. I have also removed batteries from the remote and covered up the IR port on TV just in case.

If this was a real problem, what would be the most likely source of this problem? I am guessing power supply? Anyone has similar problem like this before?

    Thanks!

Hard to say. A stuck 'volume up' button makes sense, but then to shutdown afterwards? I don't know. Unless the code was then confused for power off command somehow.

The PSU could be underrated or the capacitors are half-dead and the audio amp at full power is overloading it.

I would not rule out faulty front panel buttons. I have replaced more front panel buttons than I ever expected to. The ones that use a resistor-ladder to create an analog voltage are most susceptible to faulty (dirty\high resistance) buttons. Multiplexed buttons are much more reliable.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

      Vizio M65-C1
      by mrtek
      Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel
      by howardc64
      Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

      Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Philips 43PUS7506/12 - Loud blown out sound
      by aidanmo
      Hello,

I've got a really strange issue with the speakers on my Philips 43PUS7506/12. It makes this awful loud buzzing now. It happened after it was attempted to be wall mounted - I think the back got squeezed and something broke.
I thought maybe the speakers got damaged, so I replaced them - no dice.
      • Using the internal speakers, it always happens.
      • Using the headphone jack, it never happens.
      • Using the digital/optical out with a soundbar - it happens after about 2h/movie runtime - it's never as drastic, it just pops in and out, but I didn't want it to damage the sound bar
