Samsung UN60D6000SF LED TV Sound but blue screen

Hi. I have a Samsung UN60D6000SF LED TV. Has good Sound but blue screen. The red power light flashes when starting up. Which normally means power supply problem? Anyone have any advice or experience with this? Look how skinny the power supply caps are! Could I have a bad T-con board? I'd love to have a schematic on this model. I took some voltage readings:

    Samsung 60" LCD
    Voltage readings:

From PS board to main board:
    1. 5.33v
    2. 5.33v
    3. 0v
    4. 17.1v
    5. 12.8v
    6. 12.8v
    7. 0v
    8. 3.28v
    9. 3.28v
    10. 3.28v

blue screen - is it only a faint dark blue or a full on, blue sort of like "no signal" screen old VCRs/TVs had?

I'd say T-con or panel failure.

Try disconnecting the tft ribbons connecting the t-con to to the panel, try one side power it on with a source to see if you get a picture on the side that is still connected to the t-con.

I had a UN46 doing what yours is and it ended up being a t-con failure. But make sure your panel doesn't have moisture damage on the tft board connecting to the panel itself or you might blow another t-con if there is damage.

Yes! I unhooked one side of the t-con board and now I have a picture on one side of the screen. So, I have a bad T-Con board. Correct?

Also, I noticed a wet substance on the big black processor in the center of the T-Con board, after the above mentioned test. What does that moisture mean? See pic

No, this indictes that the LCD panel is shorted on one side. Unfortunately in most cases this will not be repairable. Sorry.

The moisture there is just left over from the thermal SIL pad... nothing to worry about.

Still, it would be worth opening up the panel just to check.
9 times out of 10 it's not fixable but we've seen some success stories where water damage can be fixed.
And one case of an easy fix, with a shorted MLCC.
If it's scrap anyway... may as well try.

Hmmm. I may just try it. I'venever opened a panel before. What would I be looking for? Type of Damage?

Signs of corrosion, usually white in nature around the tabs or components. Possible damage to the traces. If it's only components in the area affected it MAY be rescuable...

Ok tom66, I've gotten this far. I see nothing out of the ordinary on these panel boards. Do I need to go further? Like complete disassembly of the panel?

Is that all the tab bonds shown in that picture? Also, Sharp TFT board in a samsung, first time I have seen that!

Those white tabs? They're all around each side. Is that what I need to do, take off the back of the panel? Oh, the T-con board is a Sharp

No, the tabs that are glued to the green TFT board that wrap around and are attached to the LCD screen.

Retake the photo and include everyone of those tab ribbons on both left and right boards as close as you can get. I can see your photo cut off a few per side.

Sharp are really good at making massive LCD panels so I guess that's why it uses a Sharp panel. Rare sight, though...

Disregard the first pic. There are a total of 8 pics in the two zip files.

tom66 ; That sounds like a good idea too. I may try that later.

I also want to mention, when I previously unhooked one side of the T-con board, the one side of the screen had a normal picture. Then when I tried the other side, the picture showed up, then faded to black. Not sure if this is useful info, but thought I would mention it. Thanks

                                          Hi everyone,

I've got this Samsung here that would be stuck in a boot loop.
After opening up and doing the tape block method, I was able to get it to turn on and play sound from the HDMI input, but with a blue screen.

Does that mean there is another combination of pins that I need to block in order to get a picture, or is there something more serious, faulty mainboard or faulty panel?

                                          Thanks in advance

                                          Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

                                          Symptom:
                                          No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
                                          No sound at all.

                                          What I tried:
                                          1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

                                          Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
