I have a Califone DVD-400 DVD Recorder that fails to turn on anymore. I got it from my uncle for free. Anyways, I cracked open the case and it seems that the caps on the main power board are defective(puffed at the seams). Anyways, all the caps on the graphics board and motherboard are fine. The caps that are on the power board are KSD capacitors. I am sure that this is the problem. What is the recommended caps to use for this replacement. I searched your forums and cannot find any information about KSD capacitors. Also, there is a very large cap on the power board that doesn't look defective. It is a DM cap. The specs are 100uF400WV Negative. Should this one be replaced too? Thanks in advance.

Re: DVD Recorder wont turn on.
The big primary caps rarely need replaced. For the rest of the caps, I would look for Nichicon P series(PL, PM, PW, PZ) caps or Rubycon ZL if you can find any. -
Re: DVD Recorder wont turn on.
Usually you only have to change those caps at the secondary side, in most cases the one at the 5v rail are he most important ones.
But sure, even those smaller sized bad primaries are in such units not the best, but inmost cases they are not the problem.Comment

I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.
I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...-

by momakaNormally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow.
But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

by brzostosHello, HP laptop model 15-EU0005NA. It does not turn on, 1 in 100 manages to turn it on then after a while it freezes/disappears/flashes, etc.
After removing the motherboard and connecting the board with RAM to the power supply, I noticed that at first all voltages start correctly and after a few seconds 3.3V on the PL4501 coil disappears and somewhere in this area something starts beeping on the board, sometimes after touching it with a finger in the area of PL4551 it stops beeping and 3.3V appears again.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.
