LG 47LN5750/50LN5750 LED two seconds to black

These tv's are exactly the same gut wise. So this is why i use both part numbers in the title.

This seems to be pretty common these days. I read Alastair E's thread HERE about his issue. His test are terrific and had me barking up the right tree almost immediately.

This tv is 13 months old, its a lemon or poor design or both, either way I had to order a new supply for this unit because there was no silk screening on the LED Driver chip at all, or maybe its burnt off. Or I would have replaced Just the chip to test.

Here is the Supply for others reference LG EAY62810801

    Front:

    Back:

The LED driver chip is the 24 pin SOP in the top left area of the back picture of the PSU. The replacement board i ordered had this chip on it as well, but guess what, it actually has something silk screened on it. Low and behold we have a part number. It's a BD9483F white LED Driver by ROHM Semiconductor.

I will be putting the new board in tonight. I have 100% confidence it will fix the issue. But for any one else, replacing the LED Driver chip i described would probably do just as well, I will test this theory if i get my hands on a proper chip.

I will post back my results for the purposes of others information. And i may order a 5 pack of these chips and replace it on the old supply so i have a spare for when this happens again.

Well, I'll kick my self for not doing all of Alastair-E's tests and assuming that it was the exact same issue. I replaced the supply and the same issue. Bit the bullet, and took the panel out. Which i was trying to avoid doing at all costs. One strip of 4 of the 32 leds were bad. one is burnt.

SO now i am hunting for a L1-TYPE 6916L-1176A, LED BACKLIGHT. I got 2 seconds of back light from all other strips and i moved a known working strip to the position of the burnt one and it lit in that position. so at least I know i only need this one strip.

Too bad i couldnt just bypass this one bad led and get it going, I'd assume the diffuser would compensate enough for me to say screw it and run it 3 out of 4 leds on the strip.

At this point id bark at LG for warranty if i didn't have it fully stripped on a work bench already. Boo-urns

    you live you learn eh?

First guy on ebay sent me a clearly bad LED strip, had one cut off and solder marks all over it. Looked like some amateur tried to rig it into working some how.

However i got a led strip, installed it and all is well now.

My LG 50LN5750 quit on me at 13 months as well.... now when you power it on, the LG logo flashes for less than a second and then it goes black. Same issue as yours? Where did you find a working LED strip? Thanks

You will need to take the panel apart to see if you do have a bad Led some where first.

Here is what I made work.
              Digi-key part#1416-1526-1-ND
The solder pads underneath the are opposite than the samsung/LG
cathode has larger heatsink on new ones I replaced so,
I turned them according to the pads on pcb and then reversed the polarity at connector end.
I could not tell any difference in the picture.Must replace all on that strip or rewire.

trying you LEDs now. I have a whole bad led strip. I hope I can fix it or get a new strip from ebay. Also I think my main board is faulty and I may have to order a new one.

bypass the bad LED with 5 1n4004 diodes .
have done this many times and works with no noticeable image issues
Its not worth the issue to replace just one led
