Problem with Samsung BN44-00214A

have a samsung TV here with a BN44-00214A PSU in it. tv had no power so popped that back off and had two bulged caps as circled in picture so replaced them. then nocited that the piece of metal that is circled was split in the middle as if it had melted and also done some damage to the 2.2nF/1kV capacitor so replaced that and replaced the line of metal with a capacitor leg (not sure if it would work).. plugged tv up and still no power so changed the 6.3 amp fuse on the PSU for a 6.3A time delay fuse and as soon as i plugged it in it blew the fuse. am i doing something wrong or have i missed another fault ?

It looks like you have bad conductive glue that also eats away metal part. You need to remove ALL the glues and check for damages.

Check the MOSFETs on the heatsink, diode, etc..
That blue cap is the snubber cap for the MOSFET.

ok removed all the glue and put in a new fuse and tried again and this time it popped the fuse and tripped the fuse box :/... im not sure how to test the diode and mosfets

You should use a light bulb tester instead of blowing fuses all the time. Checked the FETs are not shorted? I have had bad glue on this PSU before (although mine was just intermittently not powering up) it becomes conductive over time and can damage stuff. If the FETs are bad you will usually need to replace the driver IC too.

while you are at it, learn how to test a bridge rectifier. That thing with the 4 legs and mounted to a heat sink.

i realize this is an old thread but for those, like me, who are troubleshooting the bn4400214a, i concur with the suggestion to remove the glue from the board. I did so and it fixed the problem. Of course if there are any bulging caps replace those too, but in my case removing the glue alone did the trick. Thanks badcaps braintrust!!
