Vizio E320AR Powers on then no Backlight

I just got said tv off c-list today. Said would power on and work fine some days, other times power on with no backlight after V logo but had sound.

If anyone has problems like these it is because they cheaped out on ground points for the PSU and main.

2 screws for PSU on Primary side and 2 metal spring tabs held in by plastic lock spacers and then just taped down on back of panel for the secondary side.

Pic here for metal tabs on psu. http://hdtvparts.net/images/thumbs/0011676.jpeg

On the psu in this set the plastic lock spacer was not holding the metal spring tab to the psu board tightly. Causing a fault on backlight circuit shutting it down.

I found it by pressing on psu while backlight was on, the loose connection would cause the b/light to flicker.

I figured wth and soldered a wire from ground plane to the metal tab to make sure it has a good connection.

It now turns on everytime, tapping on psu has no effect on b/light and cost nothing to repair (I did add better tape to hold tabs down with).

I hope this might help someone searching for this problem, I saw a few posts elsewhere about it but none here.

Re: Vizio E320AR Powers on then no Backlight

Unreal. I picked one of these up a while ago with similar issues. Got it under the pretense that it wouldn't turn on. Found the remote batteries to be dead and figured that was it. Noticed that the backlight would occasionally flicker-- more violently the lower the backlight was set. So I put it at 100 and called it a day. Worked great for months until the backlight started going out. It was very infrequent, usually going out after the Vizio logo. Sometimes it'd go out after a few hours. Sometimes the backlight wouldn't ever come on. But a few cycles and it always worked.

Saw this post and took it apart again. Last time, I did notice the spring clips, but focused more on the end contacting the chassis and didn't consider the end contacting the board. Found ground pads next to it, and next to the screwholes on the primary side, so I soldered a wire connecting the two. Any issues connecting the primary and secondary grounds? Figure they'd be connected via the chassis anyway...

Anyway, it now works great. Backlight 0 and not a flicker.

    Thanks

Oh, no edit button. Also worth mentioning that the inverter does not look to be easily accessible. I didn't get too far taking the TV further apart last time, but it looks like there's no need

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Vizio D32f-E1 Powers on, has backlight, won't boot/no logo, no menu or video
          by JaquesPratt
I have a Vizio D32f-E1 LCD TV that does NOT have a TCON board.

This TV recently went through some 'death throes' and now won't boot. The first problem that began to manifest was while watching tv, the screen would 'freeze', and the image would dim over a few seconds until it was very dark. HOWEVER, the audio of the show would continue as normal. I could power off the TV for 5-20 seconds, power back on, and the video would be normal. This would occur 1-3 times when the TV was first started, and would not happen again after the TV was 'warmed up'. Not ideal, but this glitch was manageable....

Vizio E371VL Powers on, no backlight or picture, will not power off
          by afex
hello, I have a Vizio E371VL - the orange Vizio logo lights up while not powered on, changes to bright white when power button pressed but there is no picture.

There is no backlight, and I've done the flashlight test and cannot see any picture. The TV also will not power off using the button or the remote - I have to unplug the power cable to shut it down. The white light never fades out until unplugged. Its almost like its stuck in the powering up phase or something.

I bought a replacement mainboard and replacement power board. Neither have fixed the issue. It still...
