blinking red light panasonic 50" plasma tx-p50c2b

hi i have a panasonic 50" plasma tx-p50c2b im having a problem and could do with some help i'll try to explain the fault as clear as i can.

when i apply power to the tv i get a very fast flashing green led light followed by red blinking light which is continuous there is also a few clicks as it flashes green light . ive been looking into this for a while now and all leads back to the panasonic blink code chart which goes up to 12 blinking light =sos sound ive tried counting the blinking red led and it has no pause in it it just continuous with about 5 to 7 seconds between each blink is there anyone had this fault or knows what it could be thats causing it im guessing its the a-board (which i get the 3.3v from the power supply but nothing else on the 15v pin and the other i get a reading of 15v when it powers up for a split second then it drops to nothing could anyone help please

A blink and pause of 2-3secs then blink would be 1 blink sos, A board normally.

Disconnect, Sc2,SS11, P35, 3 white ribbons at the A-board. Turn on Tv and see if you have the same blink code.

Do not reconnect SC2,SS11 or P35 immediately after turning off, let sit for 5 mins or probe the leads first to make sure no voltage is there or boards & panel can be destroyed.

there's 200v on the Sc2,Ss11 leads.

If it's the same , then A board, Ss boards commonly short out so small chance that could cause a wrong blink code,, you can only try it and see.

no worries, I had the 42" version, doing that the Tv will turn on and stay on if no fault with P or A boards so if it still does the 1 blink it will be A board.

I discovered later by accident that it had a corrupt eeprom but that's not always the case,

a chip that can store data eg firmware settings etc. remains after power is removed and can be re written to. I think there's about 4 eeprom and a flash memory IC.

The A board is like a small computer, it won't run if it's missing parameters, settings, firmware.

thanks i will give what you mentioned with the Sc2,SS11, P35, in morning if i remember right i done that other day and it showed up different blink code but i'll check it out and i'll look into if there is a way to test the eepromsand flash memory ic thanks very much for your info and i'll report back asap

You probably still had the white ribbons connected. It should either turn on or stay 1 blink

i disconnected the sc2 ss11 p35 and the 3 white cables into a board and it resulted in the same 1 blink led

A-board I'm afraid. You could take a gamble and order the panel data eeprom programmed and try replacing it but could be money wasted.

i guess you don't repair these as a hobby? Or have any other A-boards laying around from 2010?

ive just taking it up as a hobby bought a few plasmas and lcd to mess around with ive managed to fix 2 at min ive another 3 waiting on parts and this panasonic plasma ive tried to look about for a A-BOARD for it but theres none available ive not got any a-boards laying around just yet i try and find a place to order one from it'll be worth the gamble as no a-boards available yet

An x20 board would work but there's some notable features different like side Av , on/off switch, USB and additional SCART otherwise would bolt straight in. not sure if the PSU may need a link added or removed. Is the power switch on the front a soft start (momentary push)or is click on, click off

on the inside of the rear panel, is there a cutout for the additional SCART but covered by the sticker? If you can get the faceplate for the x20 board(maybe the seller on ebay has it) i reckon it will be fine because all other connectors are there and identical

other alternative is buy the 42" from SJ and do an EEPROM swap but if it is an eeprom issue the 1 blink can transfer which is good and bad. good because you found the bad part, bad because you would then have to order from a panasonic parts supplier and get new eeprom for 50", good then you could then fix one sell one.

yep, if that board is good it will work, just an upgraded model, same panel

yes there is a cut out for rear scart and also there is markings for the extra audio jacks ect on side

so just replace with this and all should work i wont have to add any thing extra from power supply or disconnect anything
