    LG Plasma 50PQ60

Hey thanks for taking the time to hear my tale of woe...

I've got an LG Plasma 50PQ60

1/3rd of the screen stopped functioning, though the backlight is ok.

I took it apart and was able to get most of the screen working by unplugging the very last vertical screen section. It was preventing the other 4 sections sharing the same board from working.

The first picture I've included shows the connector for the faulty screen section. The 2nd picture shows the connector of a properly functioning section. It would appear there is some burn residue and brown discoloration. I'm going to guess that this connector is embedded in the plasma panel and is not fixable.

The 3rd picture shows what I've got..

1/16th of the screen does not work (presumably from that burnt connector)
There is a bleed of misfiring pixels in the dead section
There is a vertical line of misfiring pixels aprox 35% from the left side (you can see it beside the words "turned off properly"
Also, all 4 HDMI ports will accept a source, as long as it's not 720/1080, they will accept standard def only. And whenever HDMI is used, the screen flickers with boxes of static, and the speakers emit random bouts of white noise. RCA inputs work fine.

Any and all suggestions on what to try would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, unfortunately that would not be repairable. As for the HDMI issue, try other sources. Some issues with "Deep Colour" on PS3s can cause issues with HD resolutions, it can sometimes be turned off.

      Re: LG Plasma 50PQ60

Hooked the TV up to a computer, photo 1 shows what I get at 1920x1080. Display seems fine at 1360x768..

Photo 1 and 2 show the mis-firing pixels (amidst the wormhole from star trek the movie )

I tried the PS3 with all of the advanced display options turned off, to no avail. It only works via HDMI @ 480p and through composite @ 480p but nothing higher.

Are you aware of any potential fixes? I'm experienced in electronics repair, but not plasma TV's...

Again, thanks very much for your time!

It would appear that my PS3 issue and crazy colors @ 1920x1080 on computer are attributed to simply having too long of an HDMI cable. I got a 6 footer and everything seems to work fine now, minus of course aforementioned defects.

Unfortunately the lines can't be fixed. These model LG plasmas are well known to have issues like this due to panel failures. Sorry

One more quick question if you don't mind.. I don't suppose it would be possible to cut power to just the damaged segment of the screen? The bleed has started to spread quite violently! I'd rather just have a completely black dead section. I have the data disconnected but I'm guessing the power is applied to the entire panel simultaneously. Black tape time?

Which side, the left hand side? In theory you could cut the COF off. the middle lines can't be removed without killing one whole block of ~128 pixels.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                  by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                  by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
                  by smic717394
                  Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Panasonic Plasma screen interference on left half of screen
                  by Zelek11
My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.

This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...

                  No visual damage was found.

Mac was inside of suitcase and it was inside of a bag.

Mac boots up,I can hear the chime, but the screen is totally black, not even “light” black. Caps lock light doesn't work.

                  I tried SMC,PRAM reset, didn't work.

Reconnecting screen display by unplugging those two things didn't work. I used this video

                  Reconnecting battery didn't work.

I also tried SMC,PRAM reset while the battery was disconnected and Mac was getting...
