I was given a 52 inch samsung lcd 120hz tv for free. Really a beautiful tv. It has a ghost picture with intermittent lines for about 30 minutes until warmed up. Process repeats always until warmed. It has the common tab bond fault ( I tried to repair but had no luck)and I hate to part it out. I am on the lookout for a donar tv to fix it. The question I have is would a sony or other brand work if I can locate a 52 inch screen? I understand I might have to custum a few things to make a fit. Has anyone ever done this?

Re: LN-T5271F samsung possible panel swap?
You need to get the spec sheet of the original panel and the substitute panel to get the pin out of the T-CON board and the inverter board, the voltage and the current requirement of the boards.
Best to get the same make and model panel since you have to be able to use the mounting holes and bracket for all the boards.
This is the hack for the panel of the same brand but not the same model:

So just think what you will have to do if it is not the same brand and model.Never stop learning

Re: LN-T5271F samsung possible panel swap?
Yes I used a Sony Kdl-52xbr3 panel also manufactured by Samsung and it worked perfect I know there's others out there but when it comes to panel swaps the 120hz seems to be a wide range as long as same manufacturer and ribbon cable connections are identical. I might want to note that I also used the Sony's tcon board just in case there were any differences with voltage output although I didn't see any. I was quite surprised to see the outcome myself but I figured if I burn something up I wasn't losing anything because both TVs were crap. The Samsung had a broken panel and the Sony was missing on the boardsDid I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Re: LN-T5271F samsung possible panel swap?
also I had to modify the metal frame just slightly and one screw on the top could not be inserted because it was in the way of a ribbon cable so you need to be super careful with that
I'm about to attempt to hack in a sharp LC60LE632U LCD panel into a Sony KDL-60ex700 . They're both 60 inch and they're both 120 Hertz but they're also manufactured by sharp well at least the panels are and the T CON board look very similar so I'm going to attempt to use the Sharp t-con board with the Sony and see what happens. Both TVs were free anyway so it really doesn't matter..
but yes I agree with bud. You need to be super careful in study the spec sheets on both panels before you attempt this if this project means a lot to you and your Riding on it. if you've got money investedLast edited by freakaftr8; 12-07-2014, 09:27 PM.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

by triplefourTV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.
tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board.... -
by KYBOSHI came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).
When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.
Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...08-10-2024, 08:39 AM -
by IerwinHello,
I was given this Samsung GU50TU8079U that would power cycle after a couple seconds, sometimes a few minutes. The screen would turned cloudy dark with the backlight still lit and then the sytem would restart.
Its one of the newer screwless Samsung models that I read a lot about panel failures here. It does not have a sperate T-CON board, just one ribon from the mainboard to the panel board and a U-shaped ribbon cable connecting the other half.
I went through the usual diagnostics:
unplugged the mainboard -> tv stayed on
removed the U-Shape robbon ->... -
by BiruslapioI got this 55 inch AU7X00 TV, it was rebooting and showed no image only a blink of the backlights.
I assumed it was either panel or motherboard. Turns out it was the panel, and after applying some tape on the ribbon cable that goes to the left side of the screen, the TV turned on with image, then I suddenly noticed a dark spot and the pixels were turning black on the left edge, I was sad and thought I smashed the screen somewhere, found nothing visually, it looked in perfect condition and if it was there before it would've been noticeable while I was inspecting the TV the first time.... - Loading...
