    Sony Bravia KDL-32U20000

    Just got this Sony TV in for repair, i don't normally handle Sony's so not sure how accurate these 'Self Diagnostic Flashing Codes' are so thought i'd post on here before diving in to it, i'm sure someone in here has experience of them.

    Basically,power up TV & Green power led comes on briefly accompanied by a flash of the screen. Screen then goes blank green led goes off & standby comes
    on and after 1 set of 3 flashes it seems to settle down to 4 flashes. According to the Service Manual this equates to 'Panel Error'

    So question is can this be taken as gospel, Display is indeed faulty/TV is scrap or do i need to go through PSU checking/Main board etc etc.

    Anyone experienced on these Bravias

      Well, tested the inverter board (removed, measured coils & 2 fuses) and all reads fine. powering up again i notice top half is darker than bottom so suspect one of the tubes in the panel has gone so looks like it will be scrapped off, shame.

          I have a nice 50" Sony Bravia that has a similar problem. Top 6" of the screen look great.. Lower part is all dark and filled with slow-mo latent images..

          As you said. A real shame..

              Before you scrap it, try putting a household energy saving lamp / CFL near each bulb output. Should glow for each. If they're all not glowing... more likely to be an inverter fault than anything.

                  I tore down a Westinghouse LD 4655VX down to the bare mylar sheets looking for a short in the LED Strip... Was able to tear it down AND put it back and the darn thing worked!!

                  Is the technology similar/same for all LED/LCD type TVs?? If so, I might tear down the Bravia the same way and see what I can see..

                  At this point, I really don't have much to lose..

                      This "free from a friend who was going to recycle it" SONY BRAVIA XBR-55A8H arrived with the bottom center RED LED repeating a four flash pattern. It was treated with kid gloves and was reported to have "just gone dead" and the OLED panel has no dents in the metal frame or cracks.

                      Thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1091829 helped in proceeding as follows:
                      1) Unplugged, then plugged set in while holding the remote VOL- and Power to factory reset.

                      2) Waited 30 seconds, then pressed remote Power button and "Select language"...

                      I am a hobbyist (not a professional) so please be gentle...

                      I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)

                      I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. The set appeared to be working normally, but it shut down after about 15 seconds,...

                      i have this sony bravia kdl-43w755c which boot loops. After sony logo, it shows the android animation loading then it restarts…
                      from what i read online it looks to be an emmc issue…
                      i’m not familiar with this kind of tv repairs… i’m repairing laptops and gpu’s…
                      i took out the board and say an samsung 16gb emmc
                      i don’t have an exact replacement, but i have a few 32 and 64gb emms’s from laptops…
                      i could try to put one instead of the 16gb one, but will it work?
                      where do i get the software from?
                      any help will be much appreciated!...

                      Hi there

                      Have Sony KD-49XE9005 that has been working fine for some time now. switched on this AM and after a few seconds screen blank and red LED flashing 4 times. Tried resets and all responding as expected expected and after booting up, after few seconds of displaying normal broadcast picture, screen goes blank red led flashes 4 times in sequence.

                      Anyone have schematics/service manual for this series. have checked the obvious items and caps test OK, voltages etc appear correct onwards.
