Sorry to throw another help request on the heap, but....
I've got this giant plasma that I would really like to fix, but I have a bad feeling the panel is bad. I am fairly competent with technical instruction, as long as it doesn't go beyond a digital multimeter or a soldering iron. I checked the main voltages that you are supposed to check, and everything looked OK, but let me know any specific spots you think I should check.
As you can see from the picture, the lower left section is solid white, except a vertical strip of black, maybe half as wide as a buffer ribbon connection. The other separate problem is a strip of "fire" or whatever, that changes a bit depending on the background. I have replaced all 3 lower buffer boards, the D board, and the SU board (fixed every other row of pixels being black). The only toasty-looking spot I have found was where the narrow ribbon cable connected to the side of the old C6 buffer board, which attaches to the side of C5. One of the little traces on the ribbon cable got partially wiped out where it singed, but it works when connecting C1 and C2 so I left it up there.
At any rate, This toasty spot that I found corresponds pretty close to the right-side defect I am seeing onscreen, so does that mean the panel got toasted itself? And any idea why I am getting that white square with the black strip on the lower left?
Many thanks
